Imran, Woots, what does it mean when it says "High Octane Fuel Used Throughout"? Something like V-Power? Used in both pre and post intake runs?

Cool. I mentioned this car to a few friends and they said it's not possible for so high gains and with fuel without octane additives!

Granted my car is an E46 M3 with a MSS54HP DME, these gains are very realistic on normal pump fuel without octane additives.

Here is a dyno of my car with 93Octane, independent dyno testing here in the USA, and this is WITHOUT proper fans to supply air to the Airbox. I gained about 20-22whp. With proper supply of air to the Airbox, I'd expect a little more gains.

This is on a DynoJet which tends to read a little higher than Evolve's DynoDynamics. So fear not, I can bet your car is quicker than mine, haha.

It's been great, once warmed up its fantastic, pulls much better than before

Only issue is on a cold start, it's a bit lumpy and since my drive is on an incline and touching the brake causes the revs to hunt on idle it's been hard to pick the mrs up from work at one am without waking up the neighbours.

I think habitually I use the hill assist too much so need to get used to holding it on the handbrake again....

I'm gonna email evolve this week and see what effects it would have to map around it, oddly the supercharge guys don't have this issue even tho they run alpha-n

I think the rough cold start idle will go with time

But this is the point me running the prototype, any issues should be ironed out before anyone gets their proper kit

Once warmed up the car is an absolute animal tho

So this is the equivalent of 93/94 AKI stateside.

Pretty much takes out states like California where 91 is the max available, unless one goes to additives.

My mechanic told me to quite with the performance upgrades unless I'm going to start using an additive. Since I'm lucky to get through a tank of gas each month I'll start doing this once I return to CA.

Also, Woots, thanks for being the guinea pig here and giving so much info. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one of these within the next year.

"they will tune to what ever you have available."

I'm sure they will but the trade-off is likely to be a drop in the HP gain.

may i get a pm on the price for the carbon airbox if i already got the evolve-r chip already? thx!
Pm'd.

The pictures in the first thread are the finished product. It is the same as our E46 M3 box which has been selling for 2 years now.

The may be improved over time and customers will receive free updates for any improvements we make on the tune.

We have been using both finishes on this airbox (it is our E46 M3 one) and there is no difference in heat resistance.

Worry not about the idle hunting.
If we can get rid of dips in the powerband we can do cold start idle hunting.
The idle hunting only occurs cold and if the brake pedal is pressed.
Time was very short but this is not something anyone needs to worry about.

Granted its different DMEs, my very first Evolve AlphaN had a very slight cold start idle hunt. I quickly informed Sal and he responded back with a revised tune. I haven't had a cold start idle in 20,000 miles despite -20ºF to 120ºF.

I emailed sal earlier but thought I'd just post my observation up now, just to ensure there is absolute transparency and then you guys aren't left in the dark...hopefully with honesty in whatever I put up on here you guys will feel better about getting one of these

Anyway, the cold idle, yeah with brake applied it does hunt with brakes applied but it only does it while the idle sits at 1100rpm, after a minute the idle drops to 900 and then the hunting is vanished. While the revs are at the 1100 idle it does sound more throaty and pops a bit more than normal, and does smell quite fuel rich, not really an issue just an observation...might be something that's perfectly fine or it may be something evolve decide to get rid of in the revised maps in the coming future.

I'm pretty sure there are more lift off pops now though, and it sounds awesome above 6000rpm

At 7500 it's so loud that a bit if trim on the passenger a pillar sometimes vibrates

Awesome!!
