They stole my hood roundel!

Can't believe it, I imagine it's a treasure hunt high school thing. Anyway, where can I get a hood roundel for cheap and anybody know the part number?

May have been stolen, but the glue that holds them to the base does break down and they come off on their own. It's item 9 for the full roundel assembly including the mounting base. Google part number to find the best price. Note, if the plastic mounting base is still there and just the badge is missing, Google on 70mm BMW badge and you can get one that will stick onto the base.

My 07 has nuts on the bottom so without breaking the pins off it's not coming off without removing the nuts which requires taking the grille off. Maybe some are just glued on? I didn't know there were two parts, base and badge.

^^ WHS, mine can’t be pried off unless you loosen the 2 nuts underneath the bumper.

This video shows all the details. The videographer starts off assuming that the front roundel is pressed into rubber grommets like other roundels but discovers that it isn't. You'll note right at the start that his has lost the emblem, but the base is still in place. This is the most common cause of front roundel loss.
When it came off our E46, it was at night and I just caught a flash of something shiny fly over the windshield. When I got to my destination the base was in place but the badge was gone.

Sorry for your loss OP. That sucks. At least it is a cheaper fix than most things people can do to our cars!

What an idiot, never even checked from the underside of the bumper before manhandling it and shearing the pins right off it.

LOL, I had the same issue when I started to replace mine. Virtually every other BMW has the hood emblem pressed into rubber grommets, so if you've replaced a bunch of them you might not think they used speed nuts to hold it on the Z4.

He can't even pronounce "roun-dell" correctly. WTF? Somebody take his BMW away...

We used to have the problem here, then the police started to meet with student councils to "advise" on the treasure hunt lists. The problem has stopped.
