Its close, but the trimming lets it seat in a little deeper.

It's almost like each side is a different model. The driver side, the one that sags, just doesn't need it. It's already pre-cut where the trimming needs to be.

It's not so much as going INTO the car, as it is sagging downwards. The setting is find, but there is a very small gap between the stripping.

I don't think it's just an M thing. I had a shop install mine and lately the front passenger side has been sticking out, took a closer look and it seems like mine needs to be trimmed and my car is a 2004. Before I break out the Dremel I'm going to compare it to the original.

edit: nope, my problem is different see below.

Take pics. Maybe it still does need some trimming. If it isn't seating in properly maybe that's allowing the side skirt to slip downward??

No it actually didn't need trimming, after comparing the two it looks like the hook/clips that run along the top edge were shorter then the ones on the original skirt. (or they've just been compressed after a couple years?) It fit, but it just wasn't staying clipped into place. We put a shim under the front most one to help hold it up and keep it there, we'll see what that does.

Edit: If anything it might look like the whole thing isn't quite sitting forward enough? I didn't install it so I'm not sure how much front to back play there is and I don't want to try to take the whole skirt off at the moment because I don't have any replacement bayonet clips.

There is about a half inch play side to side. You don't need to take the whole thing off to adjust it. There are just a few screws that you loosen on the underside and I think on the rear wheel well. I can look later and give details. It shouldn't take more than 10min.

How difficult are they to install? I'm really like the way they look and thinking about picking up a pair.

Easy. Unsnaps and snaps into place with the usual plastic connectors you'd find for the bumper or interior. Comes with new plastic hardware pieces. There's some small amount of trimming needed in the front part (covered in thread) to get it to be flush with front fender.

my left side aero skirt came pre-trimmed, but the right side didn't... 3 second fix with a coping saw.

It depends if you can find them painted, the set I got from Tishner came un painted because none painted were left. I just let the body shop do that since they painted those and my nose at the same time. I am not that handy with a paint brush....

Regards

How much to have them painted at your body shop? Did you take it to the dealer?
