That looks awesome. Great, now not only do I have to choose between EC7 and ARC8, I also have to decide between 17" and 18" ... Thanks guy!

Looks terrible in my opinion, but I'm sure it works very well on the street/track and must have a super comfortable ride.

Also, you must love ordering tires now

I'm not a fan of the stretched stanced look which I know is what you like but different strokes for different zed owners.

I sold my Apex 17's after I got my bbk but I loved the way they looked at the time. Meaty tires with a wide aggressive profile.

I've thought about 17's as well due to lighter wheels and cheaper tires. Wonder if I can find a wheel to clear my rear brakes in 17? Will have to measure and have a look. I've currently got stockers, 18x9.5/18x10 her r43's and a set of 18x9.5 3sdm 0.001's for the car. Would like to have another option for track tires.

I think it looks sweet! The wheels and the tires!

I have a set of Kosei K1 in 17x8.5 that I have used on my old e46 and on my e28. Just found that they will clear the stock M brakes so I'm gonna see how they look! Not as nice as the arc-8 but nice and lite.

Update! Mounted the 17/8.5 Kosei K1, 18mm spacer rear/5mm spacer front, shod with 235/45r17 PSS today and went for a drive. Better acceleration, car feels much more nimble, didn't notice any sacrifice in handling/grip although I know ultimate grip is reduced, especially in back. Think I'll use these tires up and mount 255/40r17 next.

Thanks for the idea!

Question for EDDY

They will absolutely fit over stock brakes. Every ARC-8 size can clear stock brakes. A Big Brake Kit usually requires 1-2" more clearance than stock.[/QUOTE]

WHAT would be the largest size 17' wheels for a M-Coupe with stock suspension - not tracked - just like the beef and width

Any idea of tire sizes for max width wheel

Thankkz

I can't tell you how long I've stared at this thread and this particular meaty set up.

I want to do something like this so bad, but I do not have the means to get lower to make this work (which looks to be a very key part in this). But I want that meaty look without having to increase wheel gap.

This is an absolute dream, and this thread will likely be bookmarked until 2 years down the road when said mods will likely come into play.

Did they ever get back on whether the 17" would clear the front AP caliper and rotor? I just installed AP's on my ride, and love this look as well!

The widest wheels in stock suspension would be the 17x9" ET30 and 17x10" ET25 ARC-8's, which can be used with 245/40/17 and 275/40/17 street tires. Using a wider 255/40/17 front tire would require camber plates to dial in around -2.5 degrees for proper fender clearance.

The 17" ARC-8's are a great alternative for track setups to keep tire costs down and is quickly becoming a popular choice. The meaty tires definitely add a mean look to the Z.

Thanks for clearing up those questions David@Apex.

I have another.... I am considering the 18 inch versions however, i could do with some clarification of what setup would clear the AP racing kit with the CP 5575 calipers? I have been informed that the ARC 8 wont clear the AP kit. I really hope this isnt the case.

New favourite roadster man! WOW! Never seen pics of your car before, and you've driven me to want to get a colour matched hardtop even more now... I have a very similar setup, except with KW CS and VT2-500 instead of your V3/VT2-525.

Absolutely gorgeous.

As long as the Z4M front BBK from AP Racing that uses the 5575 caliper is identical to the E46 M3 front BBK, the 5575 calipers clear our 18x9.5" ET35 ARC-8's without the requirement of a spacer, though it is close and only a few mm of clearance. The EC-7 is definitely the wheel with better brake clearance, but the ARC-8's do work with the 5575 calipers for the E46 M3, which we've been told is the same for the Z4M front brakes.

I am going to install the M-sport suspension on my 2.5i non-M with RE Camber plates (-1.5 deg). Will 17x9.5 ET35 square fit on my car, and if so, then what tire size would work? Will this work without camber plates?

I know this is an old post but haw does the switching to the 17's from 18's effect handling? Does the increased "foot print" of the wider tires help it or does it make it easier to break loose due to the less rigidly of the sidewall. How does it effect the ride? On the street does the extra tire sidewall add a little more protection to the rim? I have a stock setup and only street drive mine.
