started the car this morning let it warm up once I got in it to take it for a drive I noticed a vibration coming from the engine at Idle. Went to put it back in the garage. When I pushed the gas to check the Rev more vibration and strange exhaust sound.
gurgling or burbling is how I'd describe exhaust sound. felt/sounded sort of like the airflow was clogged or something. The service engine soon light did come on. Turned car off n restarted. Did not change symptoms n check engine was still on. Anyone else experienced anything like this? I'm doing my best to describe but I wouldn't really know how to do a search and I don't remember reading about these symptoms. It's an 06 Z4 M 52k miles I called my Indie mechanic who's German specialist he can only diagnose today not work on it so I'm waiting till next week to have it towed. it has brand new oil and it does smell a bit strong. Need to scan for codes.
It'll probably tell you exactly what's wrong ... usually. Maybe you popped a coil and it's running on 5/6.

Will have it scanned for codes
any idea what a fair cost would be for repair on all coils for a Z4M? At 51000 it seems if that's what the codes say, might as well replace em all. it's about time for an inspection anyway |

What was the outcome? I have a "service engine soon" light on (2007 Z4 3.0si). 55,000 miles. The mechanic replaced the variable valve timing solenoid, adjusted the camshaft solenoid, and added Archoil friction modifier. The next day the light is back on. He tells me to drive it on the highway for a good while to get the oil warmed up as stop and go driving doesn't do that. So I mad a round trip of 120 miles at speeds of 55-90mph. The light remains on. HELP!

Could just be time for spark plugs. Did you change them at about 65k miles?
