Looking to buy a Z4 M Coupe
Stoked to find this thread! Sold my 18 M2 as I was gonna upgrade to the competition but due to a pretty bad accident on vacation I had to pass. Finally getting around to walking and ready to drive a 6spd M car. I see a lot of these still going for $30k even at 80 thousand miles. What should these cars go for nowadays???

Asking prices are all over the map. But buyers, like the cars themselves, are rare, so they don't always move very quickly. I recently went on the hunt for Z4MC #2 (I bought one new in 2007 and let it go in 2015, and had regretted it ever since) and got lucky and found the perfect car (for me) within days. I prefer bone stock (or very close to it), and non-nav and carbon leather trim were absolute musts for me. You would seem to be a bit more flexible if these 2 interest you, which should help make you search easier.
You can find decent drivers in the $25k range if you're patient. Nicer examples (lower mileage, fully documented history, etc) can run from $30k to the high 40's. Prices bottomed out about 2 years ago and are now on the rise. That first example above seems like a pretty good buy if you're ok with the mods, and if the history checks out. The second one seems overpriced at that mileage. Good luck with your search. Turn over every rock that you can. Most that are available turn up right there at z4mcoupebuyersguide.com, but not all - I found mine right here at zpost.com in the classifieds, buried 3 pages deep and not getting noticed. It was never listed anywhere else. Owner wasn't trying very hard to unload it because he wasn't sure he wanted to sell. Good luck with your search!

All good points above. Also on the buyer's guide website is some good research that you can leverage to make an educated offer: http://www.z4mcoupebuyersguide.com/price-vs-mileage
Regarding the first listing you posted, if the carfax is clean and the only mods are the vinyl wraps and maybe an exhaust, the price is pretty solid for the miles. Good luck with your search and be patient, the right one will come.

Although my coupe is bone stock the first listing has been tastefully modded to my eye. Those look like painted stock rims. The mileage on the second one would be a dealbreaker for me. You should be able to find something.

I'm not a fan of either of these, but the first one is a pretty good deal for such low miles.
I don't dig the mods on it, but I really like the M badge on the passenger side of the dash. One can never have too many M badges |

I agree. If it is only the vinyl wraps, that will all easily come off with some steam and adhesive remover.

Thanks for all the info. Leaning towards the one with lower mileage but we'll see from now till Jan. Want to wait out most of the winter here in California Bay area. Also, anyone have experience with car storage delivery? More than likely the car will be bought out of state. |

I bought mine in metro Philly and had it trucked back (enclosed carrier) to Arizona just last week. $2100. A bit on the high side, but it was worth it for the car that I found.
You might want to reconsider waiting - now is a good time to pick one up from a cold climate, as between that and holiday season, there aren't as many buyers out there, and you might just swing a better deal. Good luck with your search!

As expected the 12k mile one is now pending sale.
Transporting is an option and the safer route if you want your new toy to come back unscathed from a long road trip. I bought my coupe a year ago this Friday, and opted to drive it back from Colorado. Made a whole road trip out of it with the family, picking it up a couple days before Christmas and it was a blast driving through the Colorado mountains, Utah, and the Death Valley. Definitely one of my favorite memories of 2017, even if we did have to drive in snow chains for 6 hours on summer tires. I bought some track tape on amazon and applied it liberally to the car, so the only damage was one of those headlight washer covers. How it came off despite being taped over still puzzles me... Cost wise ended up being the same as if I had transported it enclosed, but the experience made up for it in my book. |

I'm guessing that EAG snapped it up. We'll know in a couple of weeks if/when it turns up for sale there. If so - $45k or more.
I road tripped an E39 M5 back from EAG in 2015. 3-day well-planned excursion, in July, so weather wasn't much of an issue (though I did drive through a monster t-storm in Kansas that I'll never forget). I considered driving the Z4MC back from Philly, but between the time of year and distance, opted for the truck.

I have a 14k interlagos blue/blk, w/Nav and black carbon fiber trim. bone stock other than powder coated 19' CSL wheels i put on. It has 1 tiny 1in scratch. Thats it period. Just detailed and ceramic coating applied. Im thinking about selling it. My old Army knees make it really hard to get in and out of it. Im in San Antonio.

Onwed a 2017 M2 and sold as I was gonna buy the new M2 competition. Than... I got into a pretty bad accident while on vacation in Thailand so had to cancel the order. Still unable to drive manual but getting closer now hehehe.

is EAG buying them up to inflate the market? I guess the owner must love Z4's doesn't mind holding a fleet of them lol |

Lots of people. EAG has been around for 18 years. Yes, their cars are expensive - but they are VERY selective with what they source, then they put them through a thorough refurbishment and bring maintenance more than up to date. EAG has their detractors, but about 100% of them have never done business with them. Ask a customer if they are satisfied with them - overwhelmingly you'll hear "absolutely".

Question for you guys this about pricing and deals. 07 z4m with 55k miles and it's been in a small wreck that has been addressed correctly what would you expect to pay? Assuming everything else is in Working order plus no major mods.

Non-nav would add some value. Bone stock adds (or retains) value. Documented history adds value. Premium package is important. Extended leather would add some value - very rare and desirable. Etc.

I attended The Vintage this past May in Hot Springs, NC and EAG brought three cars and drove them all from Ohio. Like most I was curious about them and they had a very interesting and just plain gorgeous E31 850CSi in excellent condition. After spending about 45 minutes with the owner and chatting in my humble estimation they are the real deal. They had a two pound three-ring binder full of pictures and condition of almost everything on the 850CSi. Each component had a condition report, so they are highly detailed. This is with absolutely nothing done to it by their techs because since it just got to them they let the customer decide what level of reconditioning they want. While talking with the owner a few guys that previously purchased cars from them wanted to chat with him and his team. They are very professional with a deep passion about BMW's with a specialization in M cars. Their goal is a purchase from them is that car will be able to drive from Ohio to your home anywhere in the country with no issues. He liked my saying "you can buy more or less, but you can't buy more for less." They are expensive and at the top of the market in M cars but they are completely transparent about any car they have and what it needs and also what it doesn't need. Just my two cents. |
