Skyer Carbon Hood Interest?

Anyone will be interested in a Carbon Fiber Hood?

Would you prefer the style of Varis Hood (msrp$3400 + ship) or the Slek Hood (msrp$???)

Or the combination of both?

This hood will more be for cooling and looks as the OE hood is already aluminium so weight saving will be minimal..

Is the non-m hood also aluminium? This should fit all Z4 models.

I'd prefer the Slek Hood, but you only added 1 photo of it. The Varis is way too busy for my taste.

I'd love to see some mockups of other options, even a F8x GTS style hood would look cool

How about a hood that looks organic and instead of one with hard cut lines in it with vents that aesthetically doesn't match anything on the car?

Since the E85 Z4 was the third car from BMW with flame surfacing it could be done really well.

Definitely in. I've been real close to pulling the trigger on a Varis hood twice (one new, one used), but shipping killed it both times as it was an absurd amount on an already expensive piece.

Looking for a tasteful design but form < function. I'm partial to the Varis myself, however there's numerous threads on these forums speaking to more benefits of the vents being closer to the front of the hood. Both AriuSen and Michael9218 have several posts on their takes on that. Benefits for cooling and aero.

Additionally, my preference would be exposed carbon on the underside and both sides of vents, however I'd be painting the outside body colour so finish doesn't matter there - cost savings would be more appreciated. Similar to how a few manufacturers have varying options based on customer preference: fibreglass, 1-sided carbon, 2-sided carbon, etc.

There was a thread on the forum a while back regarding the best location to have air ducts to remove underhood heat.
Perhaps some thought could be put into location of some vents for functionality.

Definitely function over form for this piece and we will consider doing in different finishes/material.

We prefer to do OE latches for better security, fiyment and clean looks.

Any other type of design that you guys prefer? post picture here. It doesn't have to be on a Z4 since we are designing from scratch..

This is a reverse blistered hood. This exact hood style wouldn't work on the Z4 at all.

But look at the hood on the Z4M. The two ridges on outer part of the could serve as the start of a reverse blister that terminates halfway to the roundel.

That hood looks great on the M4, but kind of looks too busy for it to fit aesthetically on a Z4 imho

A much different reverse blister which would be at the end of the vents and sheet metal.

The GTS has a Powedome with a flat surface. That wouldn't work well with the Z4 flame surfaces at all.
