Brey Krause E46 Seat Mount & BRIDE Seat Installation
Hello All - After only owning my Z4M Coupe for a month, I've quickly found this forum to be invaluable. To help contribute to the wealth of knowledge here, I would like to share my experience installing the Brey Krause racing seat mounts to a BRIDE Vios III seat.
Prior to getting the Z4M I tracked an MR2 Turbo and already have a nice set of BRIDE seats in that car. I figured at the price point of these brackets I could try them out this weekend at NJMP with little to lose. I got the BK mounts for $179 with free shipping here: http://www.ogracing.com/brey-krause-...6-narrow-width I won't go through disassembly of the seat and wiring since that has already been covered in the below link(s). However, we'll briefly touch on quality, ease of installation and photos installed. Please feel free to comment or PM with any questions you may have or if more detailed photos are needed. Quality of these mounts are excellent! They provide clip points for mounting 4 point harnesses and have perfectly placed threads for the oem seatbelt and latch, if you choose to use them. They are coated in a wrinkle black finish and weigh in around 12lbs combined (two brackets). 8 metal spacers were included which wedge between the mount and floor when bolting down. Installation was extremely easy and straight forward. Proper fitment was a concern because the instructions did not explicitly say that they are compatible with the Z4. Like all direct floor mounts, a couple of trial and error attempts were required to get the perfect positioning. Overall impression with these brackets is positive! For $179 the price is hard to beat and with this level of quality it sets a standard, in my opinion. What's more, BK offers bolt on accessories like a fire extinguisher mount. I've read on m3forum how these will work with slider motors (need to use e30 buttons), know anything about that for the Z4? You're supposed to be able to transfer your stock seat rails and motor onto the BK mounts so you can retain adjustability.
How's your visibility? When I first installed mine without sliders I sat too low despite using the higher adjustment points on the side mounts. |

Apologies as I do not have additional info on that because my plan was to have the stock seat ready for a quick(ish) swap back if I choose to do so. As for visibility, even with these 'Low Max' system seats, I was able to get a good ride height. I am 6'1 for reference. Tested out at NJMP today and felt so much more connected than the last track day. ------ rear on highest setting and front on second highest setting Aside from height, please note that these Vios III seats are NARROW and would not work well for anyone over a 34 waist size.

What pedals are you using? I was having a hard time finding my accelerator during pinky/toe and had to revert to heel/toe. My accelerator was too low for me to reach during braking.
And thanks for the write up! I may follow your path on seats I was getting tossed around way to much last weekend in Pocono. Also, how do you buckle the seat belt?

The seat belt loops through the lower left hole on the seat but I could not get the buckle to do the same. However, even with the belt going over the right side of the seat, it is still very tight and snug. If anyone has been able to get the buckle through the seat, please let me know how! The pedals are from Rennline and are nice pieces! The Heel/Toe extensions can come off for off-track driving. No rubbing issues with the VIOSIII, this is a very narrow seat. However, my Sparco EVOII seats do indeed rub the door panel (with VAC Hardware no sliders).

After much research, I think the wide of the seat need to be equal or under 22" (560mm) in width to fit the Z4 without rubbing. The question is will the seat with 22" fit me well?

You can always do a group buy on track Carbon Fiber door panels I know a couple of us on here would absolutely be interested.

Check out the Sparco QRT-R. New seat for 2019 I got to sit in at a local race shop and it fit a bigger guy like me quite well, better than a Recaro Profi SPG XL (6', 225 lbs, and have very muscular thighs) Is 560mm wide too so should fit! Definitely on my short list if I choose to go with fixed backs

Anyone tried Cobra Nagaro seats in the Z4? Looks like they're streetable buckets with color/material options. They had a big group buy over at the M3 section a while ago.

The sparco sliders should also work a treat with those mounts, but might need floor mounts.
edit: Light weight CF racing door panels just on the horizon. ;D

This thread is really helpful (totally forgot you went with the BK mounts). If I replace the seats, I'll definitely go with BK on the passenger side where adjustability isn't needed. Left side, ideally would go with other option that attaches to oe sliders. Question is how do to retain the oe heating elements which is a must in a roadster lol. Checked realoem and don't see the p/n listed separately. Seems like I'd need to find a donor seat and take it apart...

Re heating, perhaps it would be easier and more cost efficient to use a basic aftermarket kit? You already have power and ground under the seat.
