Used Airbag deactivate for my small child

I used the Airbag deactivate feature for my small child, now airbag light on dash won't cutoff. I used the keyed cutoff switch next to the passenger door, turned it back on and the light won't turn off now. The airbag light for the passenger seat next to the gear shift seems to work. Are those switches prone to malfunctioning? Any suggestions?

The passenger airbag wire getting pinched and kinked is a common problem amongst early Z4s. I suspect that's the problem, not the switch.

It’s behind the door somewhere, but I think you should scan the car first to confirm which airbag is not communicating.

The occupant sensor mat in the seat base has been known to cause issues and there have recalls on that I think.

The light will stay illuminated until reset, even if you fix the underlying issue. Most generic OBD readers cannot reset the light.
