Not really for me, IMO the E89 is bloated and not really in the same class as the 85/86 were. If I was going to switch up cars, it would be either to an 85/86 M or a different car altogether.

Depending on the condition and transmission of your car there is appreciation growing in the secondhand market. A dealer is really going to take you to the cleaners on this car - but it will be a quick transaction!

Ditto. The new G29 Z4 to be unveiled on the 23rd of this month looks like it may be interesting - although its not going to be cheap.

Is the new Z4 even going to be available with a MT? I'm sure at least the more powerful versions will not.
But to answer the question, never.

This. When most people think of a Z4 they think of a E85/86. There is a reason for that. E86 is the only model Z4 id be interested in buying another. |

It's not terrible, but you can tell they wanted to make the E89 more livable and to be fair it succeeds at that. It is way easier to drive. It is softer all around with electric everything, larger size, and more weight. Roads with lots of imperfections and potholes were certainly less abusive. But those are all compromises I don't want to make since my car is not a daily driver and I was pretty excited to return the E89 and get back into my E85 lol |

Its not a bad thing but if they had offered an ///M or ///M sport variant to satisfy that need it would be all things to everyone and you can see that's where the M2 and M2C have addressed similar concerns in the 2 series lineup although I maintain there's room to have another sportier trim for the M240i with sportier dynamics (especially in the steering department). |

Yes. If OP has the budget and inclination to spend that much for a brand new next generation Z4 I'd wait and see how that drives before making a decision. I'm curious myself. It is always good to have go forward future replacement options

i might wait and consider if its affordable. e85/86 is still fun to drive at 70k or any other mileage for that matter. im almost at 60k of dd and coming up to my 1 year of ownership. Not sure if the new one will come with MT or not but I think driving this car in MT adds to the fun of it plus it has the M3 engine in it.
