Sway Bar mount point reinformcement ?
I am planning a coilover suspension upgrade for my 2006 BMW Z4M Roadster. I will likely do this in the coming Spring 2020 if all goes to plan.
The trustworthy and reputable shop I am doing the work with suggests I consider a front sway bar upgrade to a medium stiffness Ground Control sway bar. Somewhere on these forums I came across a post about re-enforcing the front sway bar mount points as the extra stress from aftermarket sway bars can rip out the original mount points. I can't find it now! Does anyone have any info on reinfomrcing the front sway bar mounts? Do you really need aftermarket sway bars on these cars? Would swapping out the rear sway bar at the same time make sense? Any reinforcement required for the rear sway bar if it was swapped out? Thansk! Eamonn aka eggman |

FORGET ARB
If you're planning on installing coil over suspension with linear springs like the TC Kline set up then you don't need different ARBs. You didn't indicate why you're going with a coil over suspension. If you don't plan on doing driving school HPDE events then you don't need to spend the money on coil overs. My Z4MC spends most of its time on the track so coil overs and camber plates make sense.

Hi Jim,
Good to know about the anti-roll bars and coil over upgrades. While the car is my daily driver, I did about 10 track days this year (my first year owning it), and plan to do at least that many next year. I want to go with a 275/35/18 squared setup as well as address what feels like pretty beat up shock absorbers, so I am planning to do a 2 way remote reservoir MCS coilover upgrade. I was debating MCS or JRZ, but there is a shop that provides great "at the track" service who specialize in MCS, so I am going to go that route. Cheers, Eamonn |

I have stainless plate laying around and made a pair off of a diagram that was posted....haven't gotten around to test fitting them but the are definitely within the ball park...if you don't get a response or don't mind tweaking them if need be I can throw a set together this weekend

I was able to make my own this weekend, thanks!
The difficulty I ran into was my mounting bolts were offset, and then the 'curve' of the transition in the frame. |
