Trunk Struts/Dampeners
Hey everyone,
As my Z4 is the only Z4 I’ve ever known... What is the trunk supposed to feel/behave like? Mine will prop open when it’s fully open but anything less and it will slam shut (ouch. it’s got me a few times ![]() I’m not sure if that’s basically how they are or if it should gently drop down to close and my struts have gone very bad. Thanks. |

My trunk was doing the same. I just put new struts in for my trunk a few days ago. Takes 5 minutes and costs about $20. Can confirm they require some muscle to close down now.

New support struts are in your future! Mine lasted 12 years before the trunk was trying to decapitate me or break my arm.
With new struts, I have to be aggressive in closing the trunk. Takes 15 minutes and $30 to fix. |

Be careful slamming the trunk.. The infamous 3rd brake light cracks easily..
