Parts required for Evolve CSL Airbox install?

Hey Folks,

I got a great deal on an Evolve CSL airbox in near new condition. My indy will do the install, and I will get a tune from Randy at Epic Motorsports.

I usually provide the parts, so I wanted to confirm this list of parts to install a CSL airbox from Evolve:

CSL Airbox Air Shut Off Valve
BMW # 11617833647

CSL Crankcase Vent Hose
BMW # 11157833649

IAT Relocation Kit
BMW # NA

OPTIONAL (but I am going to do it this way):
CSL Dipstick Tube
BMW # 11437833653

CSL Oil Dipstick
BMW # 11437834784

I have the 6 x rubber thingys for the trumpets, and the 12 clamps for those. I will also clean the air filter prior to installation.

Am I missing anything?

Cheers,
Eamonn aka eggman

You can skip the CSL dipstick. You'll have to remove the airbox every time you want to check the oil level with it. Just keep the factory one and turn it about 180 degrees. It'll make more sense when you're doing the install. I got new intake mounts (11617830735) and went with OEM hose clamps vs the Evolve supplied ones on the engine side (cleaner look in my opinion). I also went with the Eventuri scoop to help direct more air towards the airbox opening.

Here are the links I used for guidance on my install:

Enjoy it. The sound is incredible, but be warned it becomes incredibly hard to keep your foot out of it when driving.

Thank you so much for a helpful post. I didn't realize the CSL dipstick would reuqire airbox removal to check oil levels vs simply rotating the stock Z4M one. I was trying to "do it right", but this seems like a hassle. Saves some considerable money too - much appreciated!

Regards the BMW #13621739510 - Intake Air Temperature Sensor; is this needed if also purchasing the Turner IAT relocation kit?

Thanks again - very excited to get these parts together and get this installed - love the sound of the CSL S54, it's one of the main reasons I bought the car.

Cheers,
Eamonn

You can use the IAT sensor that comes with relocation kit. I believe it's the same as the one on an E38 7 series and used on a few other models. Just make sure your tuner knows which IAT sensor you are using so they can apply the proper scaling.

You don't really need the vacuum hose either, as you can furbish your own from the old vacuum hose, you just need a longer bit of hose. (Fuel hose works a treat)

Same with the iat relocation kit, you can solder up your own, or you can just buy the one you listed.

Not sure about the evolve box, but the carbonious box needed the bigger trottle body hoses.

If you can put the iat probe wherever you like (can't on Karbonious), put it as far away from the engine as possible.

Thanks!

I bought the parts so I can have the original stuff available in case I decide to revert.

Will be a bit before I get it done. Hoping to do dyno tests in between some of the updates, will see if I can manage to pull that off.

Thanks again for all the help!

Cheers,
Eamonn

Booked into the shop week of Feb 24 to have the airbox, exhaust and tune installed.

I have a pre-dyno, and will do a post dyno sometime in March.
