I need to drive one and see how it feels. 4400 lbs and 390whp is going to feel ALOT slower than a F80 M3. hopefully the ride quality and steering can make up for it. The car looks great imo. i'd like to pick one up in a year or so when they are in the 50s

I honestly don't think you'll like it. It's definitely super well built and just an interesting car in general, but the ride quality wasn't Rolls Royce or anything, although I do hear the 2021s were softened up. The LC500 couldn't keep up with my catless E92 M3 with a 6MT, but sounds good stock for stock. Transmission is a 10AT, and it definitely was not as good as an 8ZF.

It is stunning in person though, I was surprised how much I liked the silver/red the dealership had over the red/black.

Honestly, it'll feel that much slower if you're used to a GT3 and F80. This makes more sense as your Civic replacement

This.

I have a 2016 328i M Sport, I'm the second owner. I bought it in 2019 from my local dealer for 18K. It's a super clean car with low mileage, no accidents, clean CARFAX, yadda yadda. The first owner paid just over 48K for it.

Enjoy the chase!

Was that the sticker price? Or do you know what he actually paid? Nobody pays sticker, or even close on regular production models like that. Could have been $10k+ off between rebates and dealer discount. Or leased for $300 a month. Maybe BMW ate the depreciation.

I see the new G20's and it's tempting but the prices are still too high for my liking and there are many problems/software bugs emerging. I usually buy when a new model has been around at least 3 years. By then many of the problems are ironed out.

My 35d was a total loss to flood damage. It was a 2015! CPO with 1 previous owner. I want another one. I'm happy in something older. I have always felt a lot of pressure with something new. Like if it gets a dent then I get a bit emotional.

I think the life expectancy of a car being 100k miles doesn't help. With dealerships creating the enigma that a car won't be suitable past 100k and how the gearbox is filled for life. The life of the car being 100k!

My engine was well past that and drove like new.

OP why do you care what others buy and do?

If they're happy changing PCP every year, good for them if they can afford and enjoy it.

If you enjoy saving, buying and cherishing forever and keeping it in the family, kudos to you.

ETTO.

2011 BMW 328i Touring  [10.00]
I'm finding that I am pretty done with "modern" cars. Every year they get farther away from what I like. In fact, I just sold a 2018 Fiata (124 Spider) and replaced it with a mint condition 46K mile '11 128i CV. Though that was more because I didn't fit in it comfortably than that I didn't like it - I LOVED driving it.

As for cherishing cars, I have owned this little guy for 25 years now, and I have owned my '11 e91 from new, and really have no intention of ever replacing either of them. My '17 GTI feels like a long-term keeper too - the more I read about the new one the less desirable it seems. I might well replace my old Land Rover Disco with a new Bronco though.

Gorgeous car!

What did you not like about the Fiata?

I agree with you though that modern cars are becoming less and less desirable. They just lack that connected feeling. Interestingly, I took my fiancé’s Honda HRV to the Honda dealer for maintenance the other day. While waiting they had a bright red Civic Sport coupe on the lot with a manual. It has like 160 HP and a slightly tuned suspension. I got to talking with one of the salesmen and decided to take it for a spin. I had more fun driving that car with its old school 160 HP high revving Honda engine, slick manual, and toss-able suspension than I have any current BMW, save maybe the M2 I drove out at Thermal Club last year.
