Third brake light replacement - not flush

Hey guys,

So, I've come around to replace my third brake light. A vinyl wrapper overtorqued the nuts and the stud inside the third brake light broke leaving the third brake light fastened but insecure.

I purchased a replacement third brake light, broke mine in order to access the bolts and remove my original third brake light.

The replacement brake light looks great and all, but the corners do not sit flush with the trunk/boot lid. leaving a 2mm gap on either end which I'm sure water will find its way in and burn it out.

Has anyone experienced this? What can I do? I was thinking of using a heatgun and VERY carefully curve the light slightly on either end 2mm.

Thanks
