Jiggly 6MT Shifter Z4 M Coupe - What fixes this?
Hi guys,
I see there are a lot of parts/kits for sale online that are related to the shifter. Mine works perfectly fine, but it's jiggly feeling. Meaning that if i just have the shifter into something like first gear with the car off, i can jiggle the shifter around. Feels a little sloppy for my taste for such a nice and precise car. I was hoping some of you guys with experience fixing this issue could direct me to what i need to buy. Is it as simple as 1 part or more complicated with a full kit of a variety of parts needing to be replaced? Thanks in advance.

I have a autosolutions ssk that I am about to post in the for sale section if you're interested. It's probably the best kit you can get for our cars. I just never got around to installing.

The selector carrier bushing is broken. It’s a white “cup” looking thing that holds the pivot bearing. Part number 7 on this diagram:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=25_0343 25111220600 Procedure to swap it out is pretty straight forward, almost all BMW manual shifters use the same part and procedure to change since the 80s until late 2000s.

If you find that (cat-back) daunting, then you probably won’t want to tackle this yourself.
