Rod Bearings and Vanos Overhaul - Yikes!!!

I put this off last year and thought I should do it before I get the car on the track this year. Looks like 2023 will be an expensive year as I'm also installing coilovers as the stock suspension is tired. 81000kms on the clock currently.

So, $5200 CDN for rod bearings and Vanos rebuild at a well reputed shop in TO.

They also recommended KW V3 over the B16 kit (what a shocker!!). After dumping $4500 on tires and brakes last year, and another $500 on track dedicated pads already, tracking is certainly getting expensive.

I was thinking about trading the Z4M on a M2 for more speed...and then I remembered why I bought the roadster for. Speed is nice but I do love the sound of the S54 with the top down.

That's about what i'd expect to pay here in Toronto. Honestly it's good insurance, take a look at the price of used S54 engines now. It's insane, and you'd still need to do bearings.

V10 M6 is my someday car and looking into those used engines, it makes more sense to consider it totaled, I would not hesitate to do the bearings. Just the downside of these cars.

The M2 is nice but not done depreciating, your Z4M will only go up from here and the service will add value in my opinion. But it sounds like you're really enjoying it so I'd get it done and keep enjoying it, they ain't making that kind of car again!

Brakes were $2500 and the tires were $2k when all said and done. My previous tires lasted me 6 full track days and I heat cycled them out of grip. Pads were completely done and I've refaced the rotors to make them track specific rotors and keep the new BMW factory set for regular driving.

Remember, this is CDN so closer to $500 USD.

Confused on the conversion rate - you said $4,500 CDN right? That would be 3300 USD at today's rate of 1 CDN = 0.75 USD
