Official Modded M Coupe & Roadster Thread

Since there are separate forums for exhausts, wheels, suspension, drivetrain mods etc it can get difficult to piece together the best combinations etc.

Lets showcase the skill, individuality and what works and what doesn't in creating our cohesive beast. Also list where you bought your mods and how much. This will help us all learn from the experiences from like minded folks in one single thread with variety (rather than one car's evolution).

The format is:

1. List your goals for the car

2. Mods you have done (wheel specs, suspension, exhaust, drivetrain, interior, exterior etc,). Be sure to include how you like each mod or what you would change

3. Pics - We all want to see it now. Before and after's welcomed too.

Good question . I am bone stock which is why I'm wanting to see total cars. Will be doing some wheels, perhaps coil overs and an exhaust. I have done the CDV delete but thats it so far.

Guess I'll bite and go first...

On the car:
- iForged Aero 18x8, 18x9 rims on Nitto Invo, 235/45/18, 255/35/18. (Going to fit 265 in the rear next time around).
- Zeckhausen CDV delete
- StrongStrut Strut Tower Bar and Firewall Braces
- Hartge Illuminated Leather Shifter

In the basement waiting to go on the car:
- Supersprint Headers with Jet Hot coating
- Catco High Flow Cats
- QTP Exhaust dump valves
- Dinan Muffler
- Brembo 320mm BBK
- Bride Exor 2 Bucket Seats

So far, everything I've installed on the car has yielded significant differences. The Strong Strut transformed the handling and steering characteristics instantly. The difference in turn in was amazing. The CDV delete... as soon as you step on the clutch you know... increases the clutch engagement time so you can pull off some faster shifts. The rims and tires by far the best upgrade. Those RFT's.... GARBAGE!! I really love the Nitto Invos, low noise, amazing grip, dry or wet!!

The exhaust work will be done in a couple weeks before I stow the car for the winter. (Hoping to get a few weeks of drivetime after the installation before I put her away for the snowy season).

Future Modding plans:
- Supercharger
- UUC short shift + DSSR
- ACS side skirts
- Hamann front bumper or Aero front bumper
- 4.5lb Racing Battery
- Coilovers (Thinking Bilstein, KW, H&R or Tein, still researching).
- H&R sway bars or Hotchkis Sway bars.

I guess I'll play along...for my amusement only of course...

1. Short term, I need some winter tires/wheels. Since I don't really have any place to store my summer tires/wheels, this poses a slight problem...I guess I'll have to figure it out tho...

Long term, first and foremost come the look of the car. Stock is sexy as hell, but there's still room for improvement. First thing that I want to do is the CF roof...sixspeed owes me for planting the seed in his head on that one...after that I'll have to do the exhaust and possibly brakes...but these are probably even more long term goals...since cash flow is kinda tight right now, and i'm not all that displeased with the way it is right now.

Superlong term would be to suit it more for the track...thinking of coilover's and maybe a camber adjustment, 5 point harness and a seat upgrade, and some proper track wheels and rubber...maybe 19" RGRs or CSLs with some advans...but buy the time I do all of this...I won't be making payments anymore

2. Mods that I have done...and this is what I'm most proud of...
- Wheel locks and ///M logo valve covers...a must have.
- ///M logo floor mats. Not sure how I feel about em just yet...but they look better than shitty 5 dollar mats that came with the car.
- ///M logo key chain...hahah not really for the car, but I like it

3. I've posted pics...not of the floor mats yet, but you can find those anywhere...here's my thread Dammmittt's ride

It took me awhile to warm up to the wheels, but I really did it for the weight reduction. I could definitely tell a difference in the handling and the nimbleness - glad I did the brake upgrade then also!

I am thinking of adding these 3 to my car... have you noticed a difference in handling and power? do the pulleys help on the z4 m roadster?

- H&R Sport Springs
- StrongStrut Strut Bar and Firewall Braces
- Turner Underdrive Pulley Kit

I found the Strong Strut bar and braces to offer a phenomenal difference in handling.
It really tightens up the steering.

Whoaa. Finally somebody really putting some skin in the 85,86. Tons of super-modded e46 but we seem to be a conservative bunch. Well that plus the M is only 2 years old.
