You better believe it. I'm considering getting some footage of it first running when he test fires it. If I recall correctly he might be doing that outside the chassis? It would be like seeing a heart transplant and the other heart still beating in a surgeons hands.

I'm getting pretty pumped.

We haven't hit testing phase yet, bumped into some issues with some missing parts and we decided to get a new oil cooler considering the old one had far too many particles in it. Can't say I'm happy with the bill still going north, but it is almost done.

We also rebuilt the Vanos with a new plate and internal components. Everything is finally coming together. We're looking at about a week for the rest of the parts to get in.

Love how they marked the torquing sequence on the clutch bolts.
Great attention to detail.

They definitely don't leave anything out. They have been truly professional with me and everything that they've done. It's been a very informative experience.

That pretty shine has come at a very pretty penny

Just like everything else, it has been cleaned with a ton of detail. I haven't had access to a computer today so I'm attempting to do this off my iPad. We'll see how this goes.

(Testing failed, I'll have to wait until later when I can pull off the image link to imbed the photos on here, it's not as mobile friendly as I had hoped). I'll make sure to get these up here soon for you guys.

Thanks Vanne, part of the reason for documenting all of this as I have is to ensure that I'm not missing anything and that they're doing everything correctly and in the right respect to the vehicle. I know a good bit, but definitely not everything that counts.

I do have a question to ask you all here. It took BMW of NA three attempts to get me an intact lower block. This process delayed the building of the car (which is my daily driver) from a completion date NLT the end of October to next week! Do you think there is any argument that I could make to which they should give me a refund or some sort of compensation for this delay? I feel it's reasonable, but others have told me that it's not really an argument. Thoughts?

Looks great, so many things to re-install. It would be slightly confusing.

You should top up you brake fluid reservoir though, the level is a bit too close to the clutch line for my liking.

I don't know that anything would stick. You don't have a written contract that incorporates liquidated damages. You can always try!

It wouldn't be the original block that I would be attempting to file a claim, just debating the incurred cost that I received from not having a vehicle due to the two month delay in shipping which wound up delaying the build schedule four months (as things didn't arrive when we had planned them). Obviously the only prosecution that I could embark on would be for those two months of delayed shipping (which they gave me a deep discount on an oil pump) but outside of that it's cost me a lot more than a 10-16% discount which I already get from a BMWCCA membership.

Again I'm not upset with anyone throughout this whole process, it's just unfortunate. I'm a little discerned that they didn't do more, and asking them for something in regards to the delays for failed shipping on two lower castings from Germany seems in order... but I could be wrong. I suppose there isn't much that would/could come from it at this point regardless.

I'm not sure if I made that clear before pokeybritches, but if that's what you're responding to, I hear you. I just wouldn't think I needed documentation of failed deliveries. I have the shop that can attest to it, but not sure what else could be done. I appreciate you're input!

Happier note! Some more photos.

This is all until next Tuesday when the remaining parts arrive, then it's time to fire her up!

That's alright, I'm not shy about it, it sucks but that's why I made a thread to explain why everything's being done right? Now it's in the realm of 16k. Yeah, I won't be going on vacation for a while.

I wound up tacking new rotors and brakes all the way around as well with a few other odds and ends. Might well bite the whole bullet now right?
