I couldn't help but notice that the hood on my '07 M Coupe appears to be glued down to the hood frame. After further investigation, I have determined that the hood must be fiberglass. Now I am wondering what other body parts are fiberglass? Is this done to reduce weight? Too bad carbon fiber wasn't used.

I believe all the hoods on Z4Ms are aluminium. It's a weight reduction measure, yes. I don't think there's a lick of fiberglass on these cars. |

You'll also see the rivets holding it on along the sides of the hood. The Audi A6 also has an aluminum hood and is constructed the same way with glue. Common practice.
All body panels are steel and aluminum (hood) no fiberglass was ever used. Also most inner frames are glued together on newer constructed cars even with steel. Next time you look under your hood of your next new car Chances are the inner frame is glued. |
