valve adjustment
Hello,
I have heared about valve adjustment on a M just recently. Never heared about it before. When has it to be done? And what are the costs? Thanks for the info. Regrads Yves |

3.0si has hydraulic lifters, just like 99% of the other cars on the road. There's no need for a valve adjustment. Valve adjustments are more of a "have to" than a "get to" with the M.
OP: There's a DIY out there to show you what's involved, but I wouldn't attempt it myself if I didn't know what I was doing. Do a search. Valve adjustments are supposed to be done every inspection (22-30k miles). |

BS - I drive it like I stole it on the street, and do 4-6 HPDE's per year. Mine is winding 24,000 miles for Inspection 1 - Sorry Ocha... No early work for you...

Valves adjusted on my 2006 M Coupe with 20K at dealership. All valves required shims to bring into factory spec however, tech stated that the wear was within expected for mileage.

I did notice a slight decrease in motor noise but no performance difference before and after adjustment. The necessary adjustment was within the range of normal engine wear.
