MFest V: The Ultimatum

So I'm back at work, fresh off the road from MFest! Great times, met a lot of cool people. Definitely looking forward to going back next year. The drags were awesome, some pretty quick times laid down! The fastest time went to the HPF E46 (obviously), I'll have to get back with you on the official time.

Here's a picture of the Texas crew that rolled out. This shot was taken in Vegas at the track after the events. Q WHERE YOU AT?! (He's the owner of the Imola Z4 there.)

Parking lot at the hotel we stayed at in Grants, NM. We took it over!!

Rolling out the next morning and the couple from Florida met up with us. Almost 3,000 miles each way. Now THAT'S dedication!

On the road again! Ear's poppin from the elevation in New Mexico. Q's Z4 rollin by:

Pit stop at exit 311

Mountains!!!!! Scenery!!!!!

Caravan. Broke the world record at 245 strong!!!

And we made it!!!! A few shots from the parking garage at the Palazzo. Special section reserved. VIP baby!!!

Chevy Astro REPRESENT!!! lol

Lime green Stage 2.5 (i believe). Great sound.

Matte estoril blue E90.

Matte ___ red.

Z3 3.0 Coupe

I don't know what color this is, but it's damn sexy. Wheels painted to match

M Coupe on Work Meisters

X3 all done up...

BERK Technology 135. This thing was F A S T.

VF Engineering E92. 620. Miltary painted.

A few non-BMWs representing.

Sorry for the garage shots. All I've got is a Powershot SD800. Flash was too bright, no flash was just too dark.

OK. Here's some from the track. Not great shots, but some nonetheless! You never realize how little pictures get taken until it's all over.

The track was great. Wasn't part of the speedway like I thought it was going to be, but right outside. Speed Ventures ran the event. I think it was just over/under 2 miles and had 13 turns. VERY fun. Was prety wide open all the way the around. I would definitely love to go back a few more times!! I got some V12's put on before the trip and I must say, they are grippy! MUCH more than the KDW's I had on prior, but I won't get into a tire discussion. Let's just say I didn't squeal nearly as much going around this track as I did my first HPDE. lol

Had some sort of technical difficulty with my GoPro and didn't get a single video from while on the track. I'm pretty bummed out about that one.

I did get a bunch of video of the drag event recorded with my Flip. That little thing is GREAT!!! They're all on my wife's laptop at home still, but I'll get them up. Saw some great races, and one that was very disappointing. Lambo vs SL coupe of some sort just idled down the track. Everyone was standing when they approached the line and when the christmas tree lit up....EVERYONE was let down. But I understand. Expensive car, don't want to risk it. I guess. There was an AMG sedan (I'm not good with Mercedes, sorry) that made some runs. That thing sounded AMAZAZING. You could hear and FEEL the V8 roar. Whatever exhaust he had was perfect. Yes I got a video of it

There's so much more to say about MFest. SO much fun!

yeah man. Again, I'm sorry to hear your loss. Would've been nice to have a few more E85/86 to represent! Including mine, there were only 5 M's, 1 roadie/4 coupes and 3 other roadies by my count.

That outside road-course is 100X more fun to drive than the infield Roval. I've driven both.

And since they've repaved the oval, that transition from the infield to the oval is now a very jarring JOLT and is no longer conducive to be used for high performance driving.

yeah matt, it was definitely worth the drive out there. The people in the Texas caravan were awesome as well. For next year, get on the MFest forums and when they drop the date, put in for leave forecast! lol

I would've LOVED to see your car around the track. I also wouldn't have been the only IB M Coupe either

My wife and I are already talking about next year haha!

The track was so much fun. It was only my second time ever on a track so I got in the beginner group. First 2 'runs' were a parade lap to learn the lines, but no passing and the second was at speed broken down into groups of 3-4 to practice point-by's. Finally able to go all out on the third session and it was so worth it. Very well designed course IMO. I learned real quick what everyone meant by 'brake fade' lol!

I really can't say enough about it, but if I had to put it in 2 words:

I'm HOOKED.

You would have been bored watching my car around the track because she has a slow driver.

If everything works out, my wife and I will see you guys there next year.

I know what you mean. I say I went "all out", but I did leave a lot on the track for the most part. After all, I had an 1100 mile drive home to look forward to!

Hope everything works out for both of us!

I'm told it was fluid motor union. Try contacting them maybe they'll throw some velocity stacks in for cheap...

I'm pretty sure its fluid motor union too! I was simply amazed with the E38 Long Base with an S62 motor with velocity stacks and exhaust exiting from the side skirts... SICK-O!

Thanks for posting pics of my moupe! Didn't know you had some of them around!
