New Supra undriveable with windows down...
Just read a Road & Track email from May 14/20 by Bob Sorokanich. He states the Supra's wind buffeting is unbearable because of a low pitched thrum that sounds like a helicopter blade. He also complained that u cannot rest your arm on the window sill which he compares to a shirt collar that wont unbutton. I had to laugh as I got into my Z4 M coupe, put down both windows and rested my arm on the sill. No wind blast at all. Sometimes things cant be improved!

I saw that piece too. Even if it is a great performing coupe, the wind buffeting and noise like he described would kill the deal for me. The relaxed interior of the E86 with window (or both windows) down is one of its best features.

That's pretty disappointing. I enjoy driving with the windows down. TBH I'm surprised this didn't come out in testing. It's been an issue with the Porsche 991.1s IIRC, and it's not a new phenomenon. I do hate the twelve foot high door and gun-slit bunker windows on newer cars. Just another reason not to upgrade

The Z4MC is amazingly quiet with one or both windows down. It's uncanny. My Golf R, otoh, is awful. But the problem can be mitigated by cracking the rear windows. Not solved, but greatly improved.

You would think this would be something that would come to light and be resolved in the design phase, they put them all in a wind tunnel now for aero/fuel economy. How hard would it be to put a mic inside and roll the window down?

From cars I have this problem with it is in a certain speed range with windows at at some setting. Raising/lower any window slightly, opening sunroof a little (if available) or a different speed would all change the buffeting, either increasing or decreasing it.
