Just found a company that makes a true 2 piece floating rotor replacement for the Z4 M. As well as being slottedit has reusable hats!!
Here is the link to the company http://www.racingbrake.com/Z4M_FRONT...102-311-01.htm Anyone ever use these rotors?? thoughts???

Yes, they've been around for quite a while.
One member "HACK" is using them. IDK if things have changed, but they only do fronts.

They look great. Just want to make sure they are quality as they aren't a brand I'm familiar with.

I seem to recall the rears not being available.
Notice how the availability is different for them? The front, which are certainly available, are 4-6 weeks. The rears, which I'm not sure are available are simply out of stock or, for the E46 M3 Comp Pkg rear rotors (same), it states they're on backorder. I think a call would solve the mystery.

They made rears (that's one thing I CAN vouch for) but due to the design of the center mount attachment, there were interference issues with the pads. Unfortunately, if you want to fit the rears you will need to modify the rear pads otherwise as the pads wear down it will come in contact with the fastener. They were looking into making their own specific pad to work with the rear rotors last I spoke with them.
Unfortunately there just isn't enough demand for them despite how good the product is. And the owner is very angry at me for relaying some of our private conversations as well as mis-representing him on the E9x forums, so they've severed all existing relationships with me. Despite all that drama I still rock their rotors and 4 years and countless track days later on the MZ4 the front rotor still looks like they're new. Phenomenal product and worth every penny, despite the high price if you ask me.

Thats both good and bad news. Here is an interesting thought... What about just running them on the front and leaving the rears stock? Is that unwise?

That's what I've been doing for 4+ years. The ONLY draw back is the fronts seem to wear slower than the rears now. I've been through 2 sets of rear pads to one set of front.

First set was Cobalt XR-3. Currently on Hawk DTC-60 for track. Use RacingBrake ET500 for street and Cool Carbon S/T for street.

Do they have the fronts still available? Last I corresponded with them, they would not make them unless I could get a group buy.

I haven't tried buying them yet. They show them for sale on their website. I may purchase a set for the front in the spring fro the next track season.

Rears more expensive than fronts ?
If the pad issues have been solved with the rear rotors I would definitely be interested in a group buy. I am going to need to do rotors & pads come spring anyway. |

Since we have just made the modified pads (ET series), this project will be reviewed and re-activated again. |

I have virtually new rear pads front and back. If I run these rotors in back, it sounds as if I will need to buy different pads? Which pads will work with the rears?

I have bought the fronts for track and am interested in swapping out the rear rotors as well...however there is no other company that offers a pad that works other then racing brake. They have street and track dedicated pads available though and I'm will to give it a shot. Only issue is we would need a bunch of interested people/group buy for RB to put into production rear rotors for our car.
The fronts I use currently with PFC 06's on track and am happy with this setup. First time out I suffered some pad deposits but it was my fault for not bedding in the pads with the rotor properly b4 the event. |

We should get a feeler going for the fronts and rears. I'd prob be down for a full set. Any word on pad price?

The rear pad issue isn't a big deal if you're constantly swapping pads from street to track for events, the pads will contact the fasteners only when wore down. If you keep a close eye on it and occasionally shave off the excess pad on the track pads it's a none issue. Performance Friction Direct Drive rear rotors are the same way, the only major difference would be that Performance Friction already have a different backing plate and pad designed specifically for their Direct Drive rotors.
The BEST BET for this project to move forward is still if enough E46 M3 track rats show interest, since that's where the volume will come from.
