My silly and fun quarantine project

Installed an auxilary horn. More like an MP3 speaker. I can load any MP3 into the horn/speaker and I chose this! I wired it to a momentary switch sized to replace the Passenger airbag light to make it a clean stealthy look.

The cables run from the engine bay, through the firewall, into the center console.

Remember, this is just for fun!

What do you think? What tunes would you use if you were to do this?

I think its just as valid (and more safe) as when people remove airbags to fit an aftermarket steering wheel.

Me not seeing a light is fine. And, reversible. Again, this is just for fun

Using the actions of other individuals to justify your actions is a somewhat juvenile response....especially when you claim it's just for fun.

Reaching down to sound your "horn", especially if you are driving, is a case study in distracted driving... as in almost all cases you are going to glance down whether you intend to or not.... it's an ingrained response.

So... pointless....

I like to think that with maturity comes wisdom .... although that doesn't seem to be the case for everyone in this world.

People do things for many reasons.... sometimes it leads to adverse outcomes.

Promoting things that can have an adverse outcome isn't a mature thing to do....

So... not NTSB....

However I worked all my life in a field where we had to do things in a safe manner (or as safe as they could be given the circumstances...) where doing stupid things led to adverse outcomes.

You gotta relax, buddy. He wasn't promoting anything. Its a silly mod that he wanted to show off. The only thing he is missing is the passenger occupancy light, which if there is nothing wrong with his seat, his airbag will still operate. If there is something wrong with his seat, the airbag light in the dash will light. Its really a reminder to the driver that the airbag is on, just in case we have kiddos in the front seat. So chill - its his car. We're all friends here

BTW OP, since you are pot-committed on the mod - maybe give the meep-meep Roadrunner a try. I think its better fitting than La Cucaracha. All I can see now in my head with La Cucaracha is the "ugly brown van" Ant-man has

I was thinking of doing that same mod. But I was going to have it play a file of me screaming "OUTTA MY WAY, MOVE OVER, BMW DRIVER NEEDS TO PASS" instead.

I now see that would have been pretty immature. Guess with the money I was going to spend I'll just subscribe to The Atlantic magazine, and hopefully I'll have money for the Economist too!

Excellent choice on the 'La Cucaracha' tone. Extensive market research has shown that to be the best option, though to be truly effective you really need to have three horns.

Lol it's literally a few inches away from the shifter, he wouldn't need to look down to find and press the button.

I have never once looked down to press that button. I move my hand off the shifter and there it is lol
