Drive cycles needed to set emission SMOG readiness check - hot O2 check

I cannot get the final SMOG readiness check to swap over to "ready." It's the "H O2" or O2 heater (or hot O2?). I've done 3 different drives for a combined 150 miles or so.

I've recently swapped headers and have had no codes or other issues. All of the others are set to "ready."

Any ideas?

This is my guess/ intuition. More drives (they can be short distance) are needed. I say this because oxygen sensor heaters are all about getting the sensors up to temp quickly when the engine/exhaust stream is not hot enough.

I got it to set to "ready" today.

Somewhere else somebody said to follow these steps:
  • Turn on the car from cold
  • Let the idle come down to normal, then turn on all electronics:
  • A/C, seat heaters, radio, defroster
  • Idle for 2.5 minutes
  • Then drive for 10-15 minutes

I followed that precisely, except for the 10-15 minute part; it was closer to 60-70 minutes. One note: I didn't turn on any interior or exterior lights. Also, a lot of these guides say you need 35-85% fuel capacity. That might be for some test, but I started this one at 95+%.

Reborn_, after reading a few items this weekend, I agree with your statement. I think the first bit of my process is what worked. Thanks

What headers did you swap to? 02 sensors new or swapped over? If the exhaust set up is different then OEM where are your sensors located?

I removed catless headers and put the original OEM ones on. Everything on the car is currently stock.
