Scott Weiland died at 48

This is actually not surprising, but still sad. Nothing has been announced, but I'm sure it was due to his heroin addiction. He fought the disease for years. You don't hear many good things about Weiland. He was difficult to work with and legendary for fighting with his band members. But, STP were a huge band during the grunge era and it sucks to lose another frontman to drugs. I was lucky enough to see them years ago and they were awesome. RIP Scott.

It's incredibly sad but not shocking in the least. We've all seen how the heroin movie ends and it's never pretty.

Pretty sad to hear this, but like OP said, not too surprised, unfortunately. For those of us that grew up in the '90s, STP's music is a big part of our life's soundtrack. Rest in peace, Scott.

Yup. He was probably wasted for a majority of their gigs.

This is from a recent concert he did in Apr. He can't even get his own jacket on!

A natural front man, was great in STP but really shone as an individual in velvet Revolver.

A shame but entirely expected.

Incredible power of drug's.
I wonder how they affect the body.
He wasn't almost able to wear his jacket and then all of a sudden, he hit's every note...
Unbelievable how drug's can affect just a certain brain area and the rest is operating "normal".

He had a great voice, and amazing persona. Understandably part of that might have been his demons at work. He was the definition of a stereotypical rock star, which is both a blessing and a curse. STP was so underrated. Thankfully they ended up with some of the praise they deserved after people realized Weiland and the band were the real deal. I think STP would have taken off big time if he had kept his shit in check. I will always regret not seeing him live.

RIP .. Fkn heroin is spreading like crazy in SoCal. I have a couple of childhood friends who are stuck on that bullshit. One has relapsed about 3 times, it's crazy just how much of a hold it has on them.

Loved STP and Velvet Revolver. Saw VR in Philly a while ago before their first album, Contraband, was released. Incredible show.

Really? I thought he sounded terrible, barely a shell of what he used to sound like.

Oh well, RIP. Crackerman is still one of my favorite all time songs for any genre.
