Hello guys, so I have the iPhone 4 dock in my center glove box door and all is working fine, just curious on the functionality of the dock, is it true that even with the iPhone 4 docked into the Z4 cradle is it is not possible to play music through the stereo? I have the navigation setup but nothing changes. Will the only way I can play music is to stream it with Bluetooth?
Thanks guys for any knowledge you can give.... UPDATE: figured it out, now my car works just like a new model BMW well pretty darn near it anyway.!!!! here is the new Iphone 4s dock in my Z4 glove box door. and here is my bluetooth dongle so my iphone can play pandora and playlists via wireless bluetooth to my stereo. the power button is on the panel under the stereo came off super easy and just hooked it up and paired it to my phone and it works flawless, now i can be up to 40 feet from my car and change the song tracks lol...... best part is, now the phone is charging while its working and no wires anywhere, and the phone still works with making calls and getting calles. I believe the OEM phone dock (with brand specific 'snap-ins') in strictly for telephony. I have the OEM ipod adapter, which provides digital audio to the head unit over the Apple 30 pin connector. I use the Parrot Evolution bluetooth product for the phone functions, which also gives me access to the voice control and contacts on the phone. The current phones are a lot smarter and more capable than the original BWM phone interface when it comes to voice control.
There are a number of products (OEM BMW, Dice, Intravee, Dension, etc.) that do the digital ipod/iphone audio stuff - or a simple AUX input connected to the head unit wil provide analog stereo input from a 3.5mm stereo jack. |

Yea I think I lost that option when uninstalled the satalite radio to have the iPod interface. I'm working on a much cheaper route to stream via Bluetooth to my stock sterio with no wires or anything while maintaining that OEM appearance. I'll post back when I'm done....

Inside of the iPhone dock. How the phone fits in.
Also does it have a plug that runs back to the cd switcher or what? I am very interested and would like to find one for mine. Thanks |
