Wire Harness Over Head Cover

Anyone know what the wire harness is for that sits over the top of the coil harness on the S54? It winds through a plastic housing held down by 2 plastic clips and 2 eyelets that go over the studs for the ///M cover.

I just did my first solo valve adjustment. When I peeled back this harness, I noticed a grey wire and a white wire that come in the lower square grommet and go immediately to what looks like a cylindrical connector. Some Bubba that had previously worked on the car had crushed these 2 wires between the head cover and the rear eyelet to the point that the conductors were visible. Fixed it with some tape and plastic tubing, but I can't help but wonder what was quite probably shorting out.

It's for the four O2 sensors and the EGT sensor.

Thanks.
Time will tell if this was the source of my intermittent "both banks simultaneously lean" codes.

Id say you found that problem. Be surprised if it was anything else.

Most certainly the problem
Nice work on the find.

We found a similar thing on a friends car when doing the shims.
These are some of the many reasons I find doing your own work to be so satisfying.
