Thanks.
A lot to digest there, especially in suspension, aero, and the like. It's easier to read if copied/pasted into a program like Word. My main takeaway is the subject of weight transfer, and how transitions from throttle to braking to throttle need to be optimized with the idea of making the weight transfer as smooth as possible. Simple to describe, very hard to do (and requires lots of practice). Line, turn-in smoothness, etc. come into play of course, but assuming those inputs are fairly smooth (and with a good line) the game becomes upsetting the car as a little as possible to gain maximum traction. A friend of mine, who was running a bit slower times than me a couple months back really worked on this on the street and during his last two track days. He's dropped 8 seconds off his times. (Now at 2:08 w/Thill bypass config.) That's with no suspension, brake pad, or tire changes. Just a focus on weight transfer smoothness. I have some catch-up to do (kind of literally). Lots more here, but that's my focus for the near future. |
