Performance Shift Knob on Z4M
just bought this for my 135i, figured I'd try it on the M. I like it and now I have to order another one.

How does that know connect to the shift lever? I hate the way the stock knobs just kind of snap into that little groove that in the lever, as opposed to screwing on - like most other cars that I've had do. Just this past weekend I shifted hard into first and the knob came off in my hand! Either this happens to a lot of people or it just runs in my family.... my brother did it in his ti a long time ago, my dad did it in his Z3 a while back, and some ten years later I did it in my M.... I guess I could blame it on two things; I need to not shift as hard, or it's a design flaw - personally I think a "drivers" car should be able to take the abuse of a forceful 1-2 shift, and it has been a common occurance throughout my family...
Sorry about the rant in your thread, but I'm hoping this knob will keep this from happening.

Mine comes off sometimes too! VERY frustrating. Anyone know of a good fix for the stock knob (which I otherwise like) to keep that from happening?

Glad I'm not the only one this happens to. I've been trying to not shift too hard lately, but the combo of new tires, and appreciating the grip I get when getting on it has been taking its toll on the shift knob...

I like it, tough choice between this and the ZHP. Size and weightwise how do they compare?

ZHP fills your hand more. the performance one is really small almost tiny. plus i think the shift pattern lay out looks a little cheapy. but hay to each his own. if you like it, get it.

Glue gun on the metal contacts might help tighten it up.
