Z4M Rear View Mirror
Was just curious if anyone has proactively changed out their rear view mirror to avoid the potential of the dreaded fluid leak. Not sure why but I am just now learning about this and wondering if this is something that I should do. My mirror currently doesn't show any signs of fluid failure.
Thanks for the input. |

I believe they give plenty of warning before they start to leak. There is at least one place that repairs them. Much cheaper than a new one.

i believe the mirrors that leak use the liquid vs the gel. i rarely drive mine so i was not made aware until it failed one day when the heat in the cabin got high enough to trigger. luckily i had a window visor in place and nothing got on my interior.
radar fixed mine and it has been flawless since.

Long time ago I've owned an 01 Acura CL-S. Same thing happened with the mirror. Acura community at the time found that if you contact the manufacturer of the mirror directly they will replace it free of charge. So I filled out a warranty claim with them and sent the old one back. Got a new replacement. Although at the time my car was much newer than our Zs now.
But I do wonder if something like this is still possible to do. If I remember correctly that mirror "recall" was basically due to the liquid in the mirror being hazardous/toxic. Just found this link https://www.mirrorjohn.com/How_They_Work.php Last edited by belcom; 04-17-2023 at 09:22 AM.. |
