dremel and short shift?
shorter shifter, I had to ask.
most know that there is a "notch" in the shifter that clicks with the shift knob to lick it in place (6mt) So why couldnt I just cut off 1 cm and just use a dremel to make the notch deeper and reinstall the shift knob? I can affort a short shift kit ssk etc but just wanted to inquire... |

Most short shift kits also try to change the feel of the shifts to be more notchy / less sloppy, less side-to-side play while in gear, etc. None of this solves the issue of missed shifts in hard cornering, since you need stiffer trans and engine mounts to counter that.
What you describe can be resolved with a shorter ZCP knob much easier vs. the labor involved in cutting and re-notching the stock shift rod and keeping OEM knob. |
