Week 32

Just heard from Pentagon Car Sales that my Z4 M Coupe is scheduled for build in Week 32 (early Aug). I feel very fortunate to be getting one of the last current model Z4 Ms. Who knows what changes are in store when production is moved to Germany, but if it includes I-drive and the N54 then no thanks!

Congrats! The Coupes are sexy as hell. I am afraid that might go away with the retractable hard top.

Yeah, the retractable hardtop is tempting, but I think the move to Germany and the retractable hardtop, will put it out of my price range.

The flip-side of that coin is that it has me seriously considering a used Z4MC!

I just called about one in San Francisco (interlagos), but it was sold.

Congratulations! I got mine from Pentagon in April and enjoyed the hell out of it for 16 days(R&R). I like your color combination, it seems to be popular for most that have ordered in Germany. I will be back in October, might have to have some kind of Germany get together as I know there are a few M's around now.

Engineer Daddy,

Here in Kaiserslautern, a guy just formed an M club. Last Saturday was their first meeting. I told him I'd join up once I get my car. I think they have a dozen or so members. Of course I'm sure at some point they'll go to the ring. No surprise there. Probably a good group to go see the factory with...or better yet, the Spa Francorchamps (Belgium) F1 race in September!

First thing is removing the f'ugly visor labels. There are a few different ways to do it, but using goof off works best IMO. You can get it at any paint/hardware store...not sure about germany tho...maybe OBI would have it.

As far as other mods go, it's really personal preference. You'll probably want to change out the ugly stock exhaust for supersprint or BMS or one of the others. The RPI ramair scoop + filter is another great upgrade.

The UUC shifter also seems popular, but I don't have a problem with the stock shifter.

The list goes on...wheels, software, S/C kit, CF roof, suspension, strut bars, angel eyes, etc, but it depends on what your priorities are and how much you want to spend.

Enjoy the car and the autobahns...get that 1200 mile service scheduled when you pick up the car, I knocked out mine in 4 days!

That sounds good. I wont be back until Late SEP or early OCT but would be interested then. As far as MODs there are so many as Dammmittt listed, I am hoping to do a lot when I get back since I just paid off the car this month. As for the 1200 mile service...if you plan ahead I think you might be able to order the oil from USA (not sure if you can?) but it would save about 100 euros. I posted it in a thread a while ago, but I think it was about 120 euros just for the oil and of course this service is not covered under the "free maintenance".

Is it a unique oil? We usually just bring Mobil 1 (which we buy at the BX for cheap) to the dealer and they use it...just charging labor.

The local Audi dealer uses a Shell synthetic that's 22 Euros a liter! Even here Audi USA reimburses owners of US spec Audis for all maintenance under the warranty period, including routine maintenance. BMW doesn't have such a plan.

As for mods, I usually like to fix short comings first and foremost. I'll probably add the CD changer and will evaluate ride/cornering quality to see if my favorite coilover is needed (KW V3). I also have a set of black OZ Ultraleggeras (18x8) that I'm hoping will work for a winter wheel setup.

The only oil you can use with the S54 motor is 10W60. Only Castrol and BMW sell it as far as I know. Engineer Daddy is correct, much better to order it from the states well before you have to do it in Europe since the service isn't covered under your warranty in Europe.

Thanks. I'll be home (Charlotte NC) in early Sepetember so I'll get some and ship to myself here. Guess I'll have to use my BMW CCA discount too (something I haven't used in 4 years).
