Time for a new Air Filter

Just what the title says, I'd say its time for a new air filter.

Isn't that actually the deterioration of the foam layer on top of the paper filter? That is the underside of the filter right? I'd hate to think that lost foam went into the engine.

yes, the filter caught the foam, but the next one I get will not have a foam layer.

BMW one comes with the foam... if u buy aftermarket, it most likely won't come with the foam.

Then im guessing that is the stock one, not sure how many miles are on that filter, possibly 12k, since the last oilservice.

Yes, the filter caught the foam, THANK GOD!!

I know that K&N is a popular air filter but what are some other good brands, performance wise for most airflow, and things like that. TIA.
