Z4M Cluster Service

Hi,

Does anyone know who can reset the vin and mileage of the Z4M cluster? The eeprom chip needs to be desoldered and a new one put on and reprogrammed. I got scammed I believe since this one service person never shipped my cluster and USPS says waiting on package but paypal has refunded me. I'm planning to retrofit it onto my 3.0i 6M.

I seriously doubt this is possible. Lots of reasons to make it that way with all the scammers these days. Out of curiosity, why would you want a Z4M cluster vs what you already have?

Just because I like the look of it. I did get the oil temp, gas, tach, and speedo to work.

It's very possible. The only thing that won't work out of the box are the warmup LEDs, and that can be enabled with DME modification.

Surprising to me. Seems to have scam written all over it. I thought the newer electronic clusters were pretty much tamper proof so this couldn't be done.

Not true at all. Used 6WB digital clusters on the F10 5 series forum were routinely retrofit.

I mean these cars are pushing 15 years old so it's not exactly new tech, and as mentioned above, even newer clusters are readily modified. You won't be doing it with an OBDII dongle, but it's not exactly rocket science to desolder an eeprom and reprogram it

Well in my case it would be tough! I can run cables, but soldering is beyond my comfort zone....
