AC only blowing heat

A month ago I noticed day-by-day my AC was blowing warmer and warmer air. I took my car to a small mechanic shop and I was told all the AC major components were working fine (compressor, belt, condenser, etc), however it would only blow heat even when the dial was on coldest setting. It doesn't even blow outside air- just heat. I didn't have time to leave my car with the mechanic since he said I'd have to leave it for a few days for him to fully diagnose it.

I've been told by a couple people it's probably a problem with the AC control unit ... Has anyone else had or heard of this issue before?

Garage List
Has it ever worked?

When I first took delivery of mine, the AC didn't work, but a trip to the dealer resulted in an easy fix. They said it was still partially in 'delivery mode', which apparently leaves a few things disabled while the cars are being shipped (my passenger door wouldn't unlock with the remote release as well).

On my other car, when the compressor died, it only blew hot air.

The "delivery" mode is call transport mode, AC did not work. In winter when I didn't drive it and car went into transport, the car fogged up really fast when I drove it to the dealer to get reset

happened in mine every month or so. But the issue would resolve itself after a few restarts or a battery disconnect for a min or so. do you daily drive your car or as a weekender? check the condition of the battery. A dieing battery caused all sorts of issues with my car

It's a long shot but bave a look at the external temperature indicator. If it's showing -80 or something like that, the sensor is disconnected or bad. It's a plug and play replacement and cheap. It keeps the AC from coming on because the car thinks it's sub-zero outside. Happened to me once.

I did have the battery replaced a few months prior with a new one and it reset all the warning lights but they eventually went off on their own. Also, the AC had always blown cold prior.

It could also be a more severe version of this:

My M coupe has done this once or twice already. I think that if you can find the offending stepper motor that you wouldn't have to replace the module.
