Talking New front bumper - standard --> ///M conversion

Hey all, I finally completed my summer project of converting my standard front bumper to a Z4M front bumper. I have been wanting to do this for a while, as my old front bumper was all chipped up and scratch along the bottom edge. It has taken me some time to research and order the parts needed for this project, but am finally glad that it is done and couldn't be more satisfied!

I bought the bumper skin used off eBay back in June, originally painted Interlagos Blue. It had a few scrapes, but the paint shop did an excellent job of refinishing it. It looks brand new!

All other parts had to be purchsed from the dealer. Fortunately, my neighbor works at the local dealer, so she hooked me up with her discount. That right there saved me a TON of money.

So here we are, two months later, with my project finally completed. I took the time to write up some DIYs on this as well, for anyone interested in doing this in the future.

Bumper removal DIY:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79994

Bumer conversion DIY:
http://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80009

And of course, here is the end result

Before:

After:

I could not be happier with how this turned out. This bumper looks soooo much more aggresive than the standard bumper. And not to mention that the paint is clean and refinished, with no more chips and scratches. Woo Hooooo!!!

I will take some more pictures today when I get home.

I think you're the first member to do this. It looks great! All that's left are some ///M stickers...

That would be like putting a Type-R sticker on a Honda Civic DX sedan :P

You'll have to see it in person some time, at our next meet perhaps!

A few quick shots at the park this afternoon:

For some reason, the auto color balance in this pic gave the car a slight green hue. Must have been the sun in the background.

Nice work...looks good.
What adds to the interest is that Maldives isn't an M colour

I definately love the bumper, but I think you should do the hood too, so you complete the look. Nice job.

Thanks (and thanks to everyone as well). The hood would really top it off, but I'm probably just gonna leave it as is. Not really wanting to spend too much more $$$ on cosmetics. Replacing and refinishing the front bumper was a must though because my old one was REALLY dinged up from rock chips and scrapes.

New sigpic coming soon -- when I find a good photo op

I had it painted at Haury's Lake City collision on Lake City Way. They advertise in the BMWCCA Puget Sound Region Zundfolge magazine, and offer a 5% discount for members. Makobimmer actually had work done there before on his previous 3.0i, and so that's where I heard about them. They do repairs and bodywork on lots of BMWs , so they are good with matching colors and finish.

Right on, Haury's who else? I attend a BMWCCA event with Jeff Butler from Haury's and decided those would be the guys to do my car if I ever needed it.

I was kinda holding out for an empty garage photoshoot, but after looking at that pic again, I think you make a great suggestion.
