Lost some functions on stereo

Have an 2007 Z4 coupe.
Several things have gone wrong with my NAV/stereo:
1) The screen on the top of the dash no longer will open (or close, if I force it up);
2) The search function on the stereo head itself does not work. However, the search function on the steering wheel does work.

Is there a simple fix for these problems?
Will this take one of the ridiculous software OBD-2 programs to sort out (AKA giving up and going to the stealer)?
