N52 Carbon Intake Tube Completed!
Hello everyone, I am very pleased to announce I have finished the prototypes for the carbon fiber intake tubes I was working on for some months. I'll attach some pictures of it installed below. I am able to sell these to forum members if there is enough interest, which I expect there should be since they are absolutely gorgeous. The prototypes are a perfect direct fit replacement to the stock intake tube, made of 3k 2x2 twill pure carbon, giving a nice OEM+ look. The main benefit is obviously cosmetic, however there are a couple more as well. Air resonator box is deleted so you can expect a very slight weight savings and sound increase, along with a smoother air path, which should theoretically provide some power increase (I have yet to back this up with dyno tests, I will try to do that in the coming weeks). I currently only have one available for sale, but more will be available soon. Feel free to PM me if you're interested and we can work out a price depending on your location.

Should PM him. Here is the classified listing:
https://www.zpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2106566 Something I didn't expect by installing it is that you don't need to remove your intake to install engine mounts anymore. |

How’s the sound in cabin with it and no sound generator piping to the firewall? Love the look but with just removing the baffling this year in the coupe it puts the shiteatin grin on the face.

The air box is tightly mounted to the wheel well via two rubber grommets. The engine is mounted to flexible mounts. I'd be worried about stress on the throttle body and air box. Resulting in eventual air leaks downstream from the MAF sensor.

Works fine, no air leaks. Have had it installed for months since April this year. No issues and eliminated the sound generator. Much cleaner look in engine bay IMO.

Prior to removing the baffles I thought my e86 sounded too tame in comparison to my e85 with ess, racing dynamics headers and supersprint post headers. With the baffles out of the generator it brings similar smiles now on the stock e86 that the modded e85 does. |

If the car is designed to operate on a given airflow, and the computer is set to look for that, why is it that increasing the airflow without telling the computer about that in some way, doesn’t mess things up?

The MAF is prior to the pipe, no change in air intake flow and the original air box is unchanged. Doesn't act like a CA intake. Just a different tube without the sound generator on it.
