crfine, just wanted to let you know that I used your jacking technique (sounds so dirty) to get my car up off the ground so that I could change my differential and tranny fluids last night. It worked PERFECT. Thanks again, you saved me $100 by not having to take my car to the shop!

Hey chris just wondering if the shorter bolt that RPi sends you is necessary as they did not send me one :S

Great write up! Made my install much easier, although I used ramps instead of jacks, but the lifting stuff is great knowledge for the future. Good job on the write up and thanks for sharing!

Want to extend thanks to Crfine, the OP who made this terrific write-up. Helped me immensely in my recent project. Would like to add a few tips. When re-installing the B bolt, it will help if one does two things. Taking the rear wheel off helps with access to get the bolt started. Also, it is always a great idea to chase the threads. Used to do this a lot when restoring cars, did not even think of it when working on a newer car.
Went with ACS, liked the sound.

I feel like this thread needs to be bumped for anyone who hasn't seen it.

This is a great thread. Especially for someone like me who is going to start working on his own car. Gonna use this tutorial to try to angle my exhaust tip higher.
I wish there were more tutorials like this for things like oil changes, brakes, suspension work, etc.

Thanks to the few bumps here and there I found this thread with ease and installed my own RPI's with it just today. I will have pics and sound clips up of the RE X Pipe and the RPI cans here soon.
Can't thank you enough for your time here Crfine. |

Best tutorial for putting Z4 on jack stands !
Thanks Crfine88,
This older thread on jack points and how to use them is EXACTLY what a new E85/E86 owner like me needed to confidently put my car on jack stands to change out the fluids for engine, transmission, and differential.

crfine88, I only stumbled upon this 13 years after you had posted it, but I have to say it - sir, you are a legend! Thank you for such a detailed description.

I'll add in. 9 years ago I had the same experience - came across this thread to give me exactly what I needed to lift my Z up without any uncertainty. Very helpful! I don't believe crfine88 is still around to see the accolades though - haven't seen him post in a few years.
