And thanks to you, too, for your very nice comments. The old Chevy that I ran across was in incredibly nice shape, especially for a car that old that had never been restored. I grew up driving a 1951 Dodge sedan that I was allowed to borrow from my parents. It was 15 years old when I got my license, and it cost $100. Ah, such memories... Thanks again, Rick F. |

Your comment about making a "mental picture" of what places used to look like, and who lived or worked there, is exactly what I think about when I find these old buildings. Once in a while, as with Vince Montano's and Andre Weltman's comments, it's even possible to find out the actual history and compare it to your guesses/intuition/imagination. I've done virtually no exploring in New Jersey, so we should find an opportunity. (That way, when one of us falls into a well or whatever, there'll be someone there to pull us out!) Rick F. |

Rick thanks for posting this. I truly enjoyed looking.
The old Chev brought back memories. We had a Canadian Pontiac 2-door, a Coupe. (They were smaller than US Pontiacs.) They would re-badge Chev's and put on stripes back then. Ours didn't have the stripes! It said Pontiac all over it. Wonderful, wonderful tale. Gotta go and check out that link you provided. Best, DaveL
