Custom leather interior
I always felt like the Z's interior could use a little sprucing up. That knobbly-rubber-plastic on the arm rests never did it for me, and since BMW installed leather as an option, and my driver's side armrest was cracked and peeling, this would be a good time for an upgrade. Initially it was just going to be replacing the armrest, but then I got to the shop and something took over and I had to do it all.
Eventually I'll get the seats done as well, and the dash, but for now this is the state of things. The red stitching really came out well, and the suede feels phenomenal every time you put your arm down. I used the interiors of the Audi S5 and Ferrari 458 as inspiration. I'm planning on keeping this car forever, so might as well deck it out. Can't wait to do the rest! |

Beautiful! Do you mind sharing what it all cost? Can't wait to see the dash - the hard dash material, apparently first conceived with the "roadster only" plan originally hatched for the Z4, is probably durable as all hell but also looks like a '60's pickup dash. Leather would be such a massive upgrade.

I mean, you don't HAVE TO get married lol
I have the exact same crack on the arm reset. I just covered it up with the leather inserts but this now makes me wanna cover it all too. Looks good!

haha do it! It feels so good after living with that cracked rubber / plastic. Just makes the whole interior feel a lot nicer to be in. Now I'm really itching to do the seats as well... love that new leather smell!

It's a shame that all the expense in doing the dash is the assembly/disassembly. Not much of a piece of leather to ultimately cover it with.
