Winter wheels in spring (also... M Double Spoke 164 experience?)

I know it's spring, but my current winter set has a cracked wheel, so... planning ahead.

Background

I've been using the original OEM M Double Spoke 224 for my winter tire set, but cracked one of the rears and it needs to be fixed or replaced.
Tires are Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4's in 245/40/18 (which are spec'd for an 8 - 9.5" wheel width).

Options

0) Get the cracked wheel welded ($300 estimate from local shop)

Pro: least expensive (works with current wheels and tires)
Con: shop hasn't seen it yet (might eliminate this option entirely if not fixable)
Con: feels janky
Con: wouldn't inspire confidence driving drive around on a welded wheel
Con: reliability of my car is important (it's my daily)
Con: read some welding forums (mostly a mix of novice welders looking for advice for their technique, and experienced welders saying they never weld aluminum wheels so they can sleep well at night).
Con: a blow-out wouldn't be fun
Con: dying
Con: lots this option has the most cons

1) Buy a new OEM 224...

https://shop.bmw.ca/p/BMW_2008_Z4-Co...107841691.html

Pro: inexpensive (works with current tires)
Pro: simple
Con: expensive (almost $900CDN per wheel)
Con: new wheel joins a set of 12 year old wheels
Con: continues to be staggered wheel setup
Con: need to stay with 245, 255 or 265 winter tires

2) Buy new set of OEM 164's...

https://shop.bmw.ca/p/BMW_2008_Z4-Co...117836851.html

Front - 18x7.5ET41
Rear - 18x7.5ET20

Pro: inexpensive (less than $300 CDN per wheel)
Pro: enables the use of 215 or 225 winter tires
Pro: enables a naturally square setup
Pro: 4 new wheels replace 4 12 year old wheels
Con: current 245/40/18 tires are a little wide and would need a new home (or be retired).
Con: expensive (requires a whole new set of wheels and tires)

3) Also considering a new set of Apex ARC-8s for the winter set...

Front - 18x9ET42
Rear - 18x9ET30

Pro: inexpensive (works with current tires)
Pro: visually identical to my summer set (18x9ET42 and 18x10ET25)... which I like, and it's familiar/consistent
Pro: enables a naturally square setup
Pro: 4 new wheels replace 4 12 year old wheels
Pro: lighter than OEM 224 wheels
Con: need to stay with 245, 255 or 265 winter tires
Con: expensive (wheels plus $USD > CDN currency conversion, shipping, duty, etc)

Criteria priority

1) safety (no non-certified or used wheels)
2) cost
3) performance

I'm leaning toward option 3, but would love to hear from anyone in a northern latitude who has experience with the 164 wheels and/or 215 or 225 winter tires... or if I'm unnecessarily worried about welding a cracked wheel.

Also, if anyone has the OEM 164's on their M Coupe, it'd be cool to see a photo (bonus points if it includes a snow rooster tail).

Option 4 - go local and get a set of superspeeds. I run the 18x9.5 as my street wheels and for CAD$1K with tax, they're almost nice as my forged track wheel set for 1/4 the price.

If you want a dedicated, truly beater winter wheel set, DM me, I have a set of 17"s with tires that I can't use now that I have the PFC big brakes all around

Dying seems a bit dramatic. Another option is just buying used for less than $300?

If you wanna go down the certification rabbit hole, check out Apex's comparison table that claims that neither of their direct competitor wheels are properly registered / certified. Get the Apex wheels so at least there is some resale value in them (because OEM wheels aren't in real demand unless they're Style 5 / 42).
