Group Buy: AutoSolutions Gen 2 SSK for Z4M

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Hi All,

Ronald from Autosolutions is finally back from his vacation and is ready to start taking orders for a mini group buy on the Gen 2 SSK.

Compared to the gen 1, the gen 2 is built to be smoother and more precise than the traditional pivot ball with less parasitic drag. The new kit uses a new pivot that AutoSolutions uses in their Autocross E46M3 shifters and in all their E9XM3 units.

What's Included: Shift lever, Selector rod, Front coupler and Upgraded bushings
Price: $400 shipped US (MSRP: $449)
Fees: $12 w/ PayPal (No fees with PayPal Friends/Family or a check)
Relevant Dates: Production starts 8/15 with shipping beginning around 8/30.

If you would like a modified OEM arm with bushings installed, it will be roughly $85-$95 (price may change) as the arms are not readily available stateside and are shipped from Germany. Ronald doesn't think this option is that worth it, because it is relatively easy to modify the original arm, but is offering it nonetheless.

Group Buy needs a minimum of 4 orders, and is capped at 7-8 kits for this group buy.

=========================

How to order:
  • Email ronald@autosolutions.net
  • Subject: Z4M group Buy
  • In the body include the following information:
    1. Reduction ratio (13-22% is recommended, close to 0 is possible but difficult, and past 25 is not recommended.)
    2. Number of mm above stock height (for stock height enter 0) [Anything above 10-15 mm will have an impact on the reduction ratio. Making the lever compatible with non-BMW knobs can be an option, but not possible in the limited timeframe.]
    3. Modified shift arm requirement: (Yes for I want one or NO for I will modify my own)
    4. Daytime Telephone Number in case I have a question
    5. Time zone.
    6. Shipping Destination City, State or Country

Ronald will reply and confirm the order via email. For international shipments, Ronald can supply a quote for shipping costs. A couple of days before they are ready to ship, you will receive a PayPal invoice for the kit. Checks will need to be sent to Autosolutions LLC, Re GBZ4 4925 Holly St, Kansas City, MO 64112

Best,
Jaydeep

Are there instructions on how to modify the arm?

According to Ronald, it's very simple as you just have to sand the inside lip just enough to ensure there is no interference with shifting.

Just talked to Ronald, so far he has confirmed 2 orders, and as such 2 more are needed to lock in the group buy!

Make sure to get your emails in to Ronald with the required information (found in the first post), as the group buy closes on 8/15!

Anyone who plans to keep their car should do this. I installed version 1 many years ago and am still happy with the feel of the shift. It feels like it sucks the shifter into every gear. 2nd gear is still a tad notchy but I think thats an issue with the tranny.

I found switching to a taller knob fixed the notchiness.

Any chance we could grab an E92 M3 SSK on this group buy?

I can ask Ronald, otherwise I'm sure there's plenty of E9X'ers who'd be interested in setting up a group buy.

I'm interested. Can you post the install instructions (assuming theres a pdf or something from SSK?) so we can see how big of a commitment it is to install one of these?

Thanks

@rockstar93 here's Ronald's response

As for install instructions, there's plenty available on the forum if you search "ssk install" or "autosolutions ssk install" jdoublehcubed

Just talked to Ronald this morning, there are 5 orders total at the moment, so the group buy minimum has been reached!

We decided to extend the group buy till the end of the weekend for any stragglers on the 3-4 spots remaining.

AS SSK is possibly my favorite mod on the car. Even just sitting in the garage, car off and making VROOM noises myself, shifter feels great ahem
