For Sale BMW Z4 M Coupe

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
Sold

Item Interest
Unfortunately I'm having to let my Z4 M Coupe go, It's no longer in my future plans, I've bought a Bus and will be traveling around the country for the next few years. It's a 2007 Silver with Red Imoala interior, it has Navigation and the graphite trim. 60,775 miles on it, new tires, new windshield, new battery,
The car is in great condition, I haven't done the 60,000 mile service but I've learned you can do the Vanos yourself with the 180.00 kit. Does't sound like it needs anything currently but if you want to follow the standard maintenance, it is recommended.
Hate to see it go, always thought i could have it in the garage for Sundays. I know it's a good car to hang onto. It's going to go up in value.

G'day Joe,

Nice write up buddy, but might want to remove the bit about getting your battery programmed as our platform doesn't support that.

Beaut looking car though. Someone will be very happy with that.

GLWS.

Thanks, I’m not hiding anything, I like telling the truth. It can be programmed back when this battery needs to be replaced. This battery works just the same for less money.

Lol Joe, not sure if you got my drift, our platform doesn't allow "programming of the battery", and if you got this done, someone has taken you and your wallet for a ride (while your beaut car was parked)

Again, awesome car mate, you sure you won't regret selling it?

Z4M is the last of the BMW kind that doesn't need registering the battery.

No need to register the battery, the electrical system dates back to the E46 days (late 20th century) and isn't that sophisticated (thank goodness). Just replace with another H6-sized AGM battery and it will be basically same as factory. Probably work fine with just about anything else too.

Doesn't even need to be AGM to be honest. If memory serves, some early 2006 Z4s come with sealed lead acid batteries.

In 13+ years of ownership I've only replaced battery on the Z4 twice, both times with aftermarket (O'Reilly Auto Parts H6 AGM in 2011, Walmart H6 AGM in 2018) and neither time did I register the battery. Although there IS a menu in the ECU through the Foxwell NT520 pro scanner that allows you to perform the battery registration procedure.

Doesn't really do anything though, as the 2nd battery (O'Reilly) lasted 7 years and cranked strong almost all the way to the end of life. Unlike the 2004 545i that we had that DID require battery registration, when we failed to register the battery, the battery died within 2.5 years AND took the alternator with it.

Like most here said, even though the ECU is newer gen, the electrical system is OLD SCHOOL.
