2007 Z4 M Coupe - Black Sapphire / Black Ext Leather / Aluminum - 53K miles (SoCal)

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
Sold

Item Interest
Finally have decided to sell my beloved 2007 Z4 M Coupe with 53,137 miles and figured I'd start here. Feel free to DM or email my username at gmail.com if interested.

I am the second owner and bought the car in May 2010 with 15,516 miles. Clean Carfax with no accidents of any kind, free and clear title in hand. Never smoked in or eaten in, no pets.

VIN: 5UMDU93487LL93923
Exterior Color: Black Sapphire Metallic
Interior Color: Black Extended Napa
Interior Trim: Brushed Aluminum
Production Date: 12/5/2006
MSRP: $59,120

Lots of photos here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/nqxWfPJMWnzVe26T9 (these are straight out of my phone)

If you're in the market for this car, you're probably aware that it is 1 of only 1815 made for the North American market. In this specific color with extended leather and brushed aluminum trim, it is 1 of only 15 according to http://www.z4mcoupebuyersguide.com/vin.

Simply put, this is the last true BMW sports car, with a high-revving naturally aspirated engine, manual-only transmission, and hydraulic steering rack. They simply don't make cars like this anymore and they're on the cusp of becoming a classic.

OPTIONS & ACCESSORIES

This is a rare example that includes EVERY SINGLE factory option. I have the original window sticker which shows the following:
  • Black Sapphire Metallic ($475)
  • Black Extended Napa Leather ($1800)
  • Premium Package ($2750)
  • -- auto dimming rear view mirror
  • -- power seats with driver memory
  • -- storage package
  • -- cruise control
  • -- BMW Assist and Bluetooth system
  • -- premium Hi-Fi Package
  • Tire Pressure Monitor
  • Brushed Aluminum Trim
  • Heated Front Seats ($500)
  • Alarm Pre-wiring
  • Navigation System ($1800)
The extended leather seemed like a frivolous option for the price at the time, but coming from a Z4 optioned without it before this one, I can confirm it dramatically improves the premium feel of the cabin by replacing the cheap plastic parts of the door panel, mirrors, and center console with leather.

I have both keys, all original manuals, and navigation discs.

MAINTENANCE HISTORY

I have all of the service records available since I purchased the car in 2010 with 15,516 miles, along with a Carfax from when I purchased the car showing the 1200 mile service and an oil change at 11,675 miles. (I was the only person to have test driven the car when buying it — I was there when it got delivered off the truck.)

Since I've owned it:
  • Oil & filter changed every year with fewer than 6,000 miles between changes, using factory recommended Castrol TWS 10W-60
  • Brake fluid flush every 2 years
  • Early Inspection I completed under extended warranty in Nov 2011 at 23093 miles
  • Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires purchased in May 2015 have been on for around 15K miles
  • Full set of brakes (OEM rotors & Cool Carbon pads) replaced in Aug 2016, about 13.5K miles on them since
  • New alternator and battery installed in Jun 2017
  • Leak detection pump replaced in Aug 2018 (car throwing code P2402)
For the first 5 years, I sent the oil change samples to Blackstone Labs for analysis (latest sample). I've continued to obtain samples since then to keep the shops honest, but stopped sending it in since the engine has proven to be in great shape and the mileage between oil changes was consistently low enough to ensure minimal wear, so I wasn't learning any new info and it seemed silly to keep spending the money.

CONDITION

As you can see, the car is in super clean condition, with no door dings or dents. Autocheck history report attached at the bottom (got it for free from listing on eBay, I assume Carfax would show similar history).
  • Always garaged in all of the years I've owned it
  • Only hand washed personally be me to ensure proper washing and drying technique
  • Never driven in the snow (mostly a Southern California car, but for the 2 years it spent in Illinois, I had an E46 as a daily driver and the Z4MC was kept on a battery tender with fuel stabilizer during the winter months)
Paint: All factory original paint except for the front bumper cover. I hated the look of the orange front reflectors, so I had them filled in by BMW-specialist body shop about 8 years ago, which gives it the identical appearance to the European OEM bumper. No issues with law enforcement.

Wheels: Zero curb rash on either OEM or aftermarket set.

Glass: A couple of rock chips on the windshield that don't affect anything, didn't seem to justify fixing/replacing.

MODIFICATIONS

I've personally made a handful of light modifications with the idea of keeping the car looking OEM, while providing subtle improvements in appearance, sound, or performance. Since I originally bought the car with the intention of keeping it as a collector specimen, I have ALL of the original parts if the new owner is ever interested in returning it to 100% stock condition.

Currently installed, but easily reversible:
  • OEM front strut tower brace - NO LONGER AVAILABLE FROM BMW
  • Stromung exhaust - looks way nicer than OEM, perfect level of volume with zero drone (comparison thread here)
  • UUC Motorwerks urethane transmission mount bushings (black) - beefier than stock bushings with minimal change in NVH, significantly improves shifting feel
  • Turner Motorsports front camber bolts - shims the strut and spindle for a bit more negative camber than can be achieved with stock alignment, dramatically improves understeer
  • Turner Motorsports wheel studs - makes removing wheels MUCH more convenient
  • 12mm Macht Schnell spacers - on front axle for a slightly more aggressive, but not over the top, stance with the OEM wheels
Not currently installed, but included with the car:
  • Forgestar F14 wheels in 18x8.5 front & 18x9.5 rear (pics on car) - lighter and wider than the OEM wheels, these are the main wheels I've used, so the PSS tires are mounted on this set but can be remounted on the OEM wheels if desired
  • Stubby antenna
  • ZHP shift knob

In case there was any question around my intention to keep this as a collector car...I'll be happy to pass this gem onto the new owner.

I've got the original brochures around somewhere too...just gotta find where I kept them.

That is a gorgeous example. Factory strut tower brace, too! Honestly, I think you'd get your price and then some on Bring a Trailer.

GLWS.

NOOOOOO don't do it!

As you already know, BMW has stopped making cars like this long ago...

It'll be much happier with you since you have already taken great care of it =]

Thanks man! At what price would you be interested in the Forgestars?

I have a couple of interested buyers, so I was going to see if they would prefer to keep the wheels or get a discount off the car equivalent to what I could get for them parted out.

Sorry, I waited a while for your reply, and day before you posted it I bought a set of Titan7 ST-5's. GLWS!

Haven't been here on a while, but car is still available and sitting in my garage. Bumping with a price drop! Hate to let this go but would love to see someone driving it.

Wow that's a VERY generous offer. But I get it - it's a rare poster getting rarer as time goes on. I used to have that one in my garage but it was poorly printed, looked like a bootleg. I have the "other" dealer poster from back in the day which I bought about 10 years ago. This one is hard to find today too..
