Hows the fit in the front between the hardtop and the window? In the corners can you slide a card between weather stripping and the top? I tried forever to adjust out that gap, but I think my weather stripping shrunk.
yeah i got that nailed today.... only took me 3 days!!! what a nightmare!! got it in the end however and cant slip abusiness card in the gap now, its tight...

the rear section was my difficulty, as i found it impossible to get a linear 5mm gap.... some parts are 5mm some are less and other sections are like 6.5mm!! lol in the end i settled on the best i could do and got it pretty good. in the process managed to slip the hardtop on the body in numerous places and nearly took the thing off and sold it on!! lol luckily car came out unscathed, and is unmarked..... i had visions on having to buy 2 near rear fender panels!! lol

will be adding some black details shortly to complete the theme.. Tekcarbon mirror housings, alpina rear spoiler with black pinstripe on the leading edge and im thinking of doing something very brave with some aero side skirts!!

What part did you adjust to eliminate the gap at the front corners? I kinda gave up, right now I have a piece of black electrical tape over it to kill the wind noise.

Adjusted it over n over again and made a 5mm piece of tape to get it to bmws spec of 5mm gap at the quarter edges.... A complete nightmare but im pleased to say no gap at all, no wind noise at all..... Like i said adjusted in to my paintwork numerous times, actually slipped the top ontop the paint numerous times...caught my fingers way to much, I very nearly gave up n sold the thing.... Thankfully my car and hands survived unscathed..... Was half glad the z4 has bolt on rear fenders as i thought i will be replacing them both!!! Ha ha ha lol!!!!! I tried to take detailed pics of the side and front gaps ;-) hope this helps.....

Byron, I just saw your hardtop pics. Looks great in black! I wouldn't paint the a-pillars, or any other major body parts. Might start to look tacky. Maybe try wrapping them to see how it would look first.

Where did you get your little supercharged badges? I want those. Very subtle

thanks bro.... really appreciate the comments!! im absolutly convinced that a black top on a sepang car would look godly and probably the best bi-colour combo, imagine that on your car with the black wheels!! i love the hardtop, feels like a completely different car and looks soooooo cool!!! im willing to bet it adds structurally as well as its made from some pretty beefy metal work, not to mention the aero-dynamic changes.....

im going to add the tekarbon mirror covers, leaving the pillars stock, i will add the alpina rear spoiler and have a black sapphire pinstripe on the trailing edge, im definitely going for the aero side skirts as well.... all in all only a tiny mount of black detail to just nail down the black top detail.... it certain its going to look pretty amazing......

those little supercharged badges were from a 80s vw rallaye with the g60 supercharged g-ladder engine.... those badges were 40.00 bucks a piece!! lol
they are however perfect and are just the right length to go under the ///M badge...... i Really enjoyed adding those on, they look really special imo.... i also like to give people an idea why my little z4 just dusted them :-)

thanks chris, really enjoying modding this car.... its like a huge puzzle board, the right pieces seem to create a very special overall piece.... one that to better imo would take supercar league vehicles!!

Finally got around to picking up the hardtop. Little did I know, it came with a few extra goodies. To rub it in some, here is what I got:

- One (1) Jet Black 668 Hardtop (one small scratch but seals are perfect and it came with all hardware, covers, locking tool, etc)
- One BNIB Hartop Storage Bag
- One Hardtop Storage Stand (used)
- Free help installing it

...how much you say? $852 out the door

Everything fit pretty well. I installed the hardtop prep kit last night, went smooth, took about a hour and ten minutes start to stop.

Hardtop plopped right on. Didn't perform any adjustments yet, but the drive home (and a short section of 80 MPH) confirmed no real wind noise from the front, but some from the back corner of the drivers window. No squeaks/creaks though.

Decided to run it through an automatic wash to test the seals (lol...yeah...) and found that both front corners, by the A pillars, let water in when it was on the high PSI rinse.

All in all

Unbelievable price.....

You need some more black details to tie that hartop in.... Or paint it silver,

I am in love with my car all over again, its like having 2 cars!!! Love it!!

I knew I should have found out who was selling it and done the dirty deal while you were still thinking about it...

Haha, wouldn't have blamed you for a second....

Beedub; Thanks. I thought about painting it silver, and still may, but for a bit I'll probably just keep it black. I have some H&R springs waiting and plans for wheels come summer, so those might help pull it off a bit better than rolling stock.

Does the hardtop have a model number listed on it or the color code on it?
