Wink Retrofitting a Multifunction Steering Wheel!

Hi peeps

Ive recently purchased a multifunction steering wheel which i intend to fit to my 2003 Z4 as i do not have any radio buttons currently, Very annoying!!!

Question is i am no doubt going to require a lead or similar to connect to the stereo head unit to the wheel and rather than searching through breakers yards or paying stealer prices is there one out there available from aftermarket Audio specialists ?

Many thanks!

You didn't get the kit? There are two small wiring bits - one for the stereo, another leading off to the light switches for powering the wheel.

Same problem here. Where can we get the kit? Are there any instructions for the wiring?

Okay, here's the full kit so you can see what I mean:
Multifunction Retrofit Kit

I've got the intructions around here somewhere, I'll see if I can find a part number for the individual bits.

Perhaps we can "make" the harness? It looks pretty standard from the picture. Do u have a close-up of the sockets?

GGRRRR!! I just paid £125 / Circa $230 for the wheel and buttons, should have checked before purchasing for a retrofit kit!! Any wiring loom info would be great if we can get a close up, thanks Spaceman / epbrown!!

epbrown, I'd really like to see these instructions, but for another reason. I'm looking for anything on disassembly / reassembly of the column and its wires, I'm trying to use my existing multifunction buttons for my new HU.

Thanks,

Would you happen to have a diagram showing where to connect the two small wiring bits?

I just checked my files and I'm sorry to say I no longer have the instructions for that. Odd, since I've still got every other set of project instructions I ever printed. I did find an old e-mail exchange and I sent him a request for the PDF if he still has it.

I got the instructions (and the wheel itself) from JetBlackZ, who created the sendspace linkyou found on another forum, Traxxer. I think JBZ quit the forums long ago; he also added a 3.64 rear diff, some may recall.

Thanks epbrown, I appreciate it.

I thought it would be a simple plug and play, but none of the buttons don't work. After reading through this topic I realized that I didn't have the two small wiring bits which I have already ordered, now the last step is to figure out how to install them.

I attached a PDF on how to install the multi function wheel posted by Ale_72 on another forum. I haven't installed it myself yet but I'll see what I can get done this coming weekend.
