Marcel,

Since you're overseas - the connections may not be there. You'll have to check to see or simple order the radio interface kit instead.

Installed the DICE Silverline RADIO INTERFACE today in my 2007 Z4 3.0Si with Premium Sound DSP that jazz. I took apart the trunk lining once to check if I needed the DSP adapter and that was enough for me, I opted for the RADIO kit thanks to input from Tom.

Install was very straight forward, hardest part was removing the A/C vents it just takes a lot of wiggling to get those clips pressed in. Aside from that I took the radio out plugged the male car end plug into the female on the DICE wiring harness, plugged the DICE male plug into the radio, ran the wires and I was done.

Haven't had a chance to play with the system too much but so far so good, one thing to note I did LOSE my OEM AUX input underneath the radio so if you guys have it you wont be able to use it anymore, fine by me because I only used it for my iPod anyways. Actually tucked the AUX input up into the stereo area and ran my iPod connector out of the existing hole in the panel.

Thanks Again Tom@EAS, great customer support

AUX can be retained if you would like, the connector will need to be placed in the 12-pin portion on the right hand side of the connector - if looking at the back of the radio.

Oh okay, thanks for the info Tom. I already got everything back together so I'm not going to bother. Saw the AUX cabling on the original wiring harness but not the DICE one so i just assumed it was lost, didn't know it could be swapped over. Another day, already have one cut on my finger from some unknown surface.

One question though, is bass/treble/etc. adjustments unavailable in DICE mode? I cant seem to get to any of the adjustments or clock in DICE mode. I'm assuming this is related to the text taking over; but, is there anyway to change the equalizer? Thanks

EQ adjustments are handled via the radio so they are global. Otherwise the DICE and radio would fight to manipulate the audio.

Okay, so hop over to FM mode/In-Dash CD mode and adjust then hop over to DICE? Makes sense, would've been nice to have adjustment in DICE mode because CD/FM/AUX all have the ability to as well; but, cant have it all. Thanks Again for all the help

Just out of interest does anyone have a video of this for us with Nav screens?

Silverline repeats tracks

Tom,

Any ideas on why my Dice Silverline (trunk model) keeps repeating tracks - it actually changes the Repeat setting on my iPod (5th Gen. 80GB)?

If I disconnect the iPod and change its Repeat setting to Off, then re-connect and start playing tracks each track repeats until I press NEXT track. If I disconnect the iPod again and check the settings the Repeat setting once again shows ONE.

Installed in 2004 Z4 with non-nav, non DSP, Business CD.

Mine does that too (radio module) I thought maybe it was my repeat settings but if you tried changing it on the iPod with no luck maybe its not iPod related. I know you can change the shuffle settings on the headunit by getting out of text and clicking the rnd (random) button but didn't see anything about repeat.

I don't really know if it is an iPod problem or not - I'll wait to hear what Tom has to say. I haven't found anything about a repeat setting in in the provided manual.

Mine does it with Random ON or OFF. The DICE seems to change the REPEAT setting of the iPod to 'ONE'. I disconnected the iPod and changed the iPod's Repeat setting to 'ALL' and then reconnected to the DICE and played tracks. Each track still repeated and when I disconnected and checked the setting it was again back to 'ONE'. Finally, I tried my iPhone and it also behaves identically to the iPod.

No videos on a Z4 yet, but here's come pictures from an M3 w/ NAV:

Let me know if you need anything else.

A faulty initialization can cause this. Let's reinitialize the DICE module:

1. Remove battery cables, negative first
2. Touch battery cable terminals together (away from battery) for +5 seconds, a small spark is normal as this is stored power draining from the system.
3. Allow cables to remain disconnected for about 5-7 minutes
4. Reconnect battery cables onto battery, negative last.

Let me know if these steps correct the problem

Tom,

That seems to have solved the problem. Thanks for the quick reply.

Tom,

I thought the problem was fixed but after driving around town running errands today I once again have the tracks repeating.

When I shut down the car I leave the iPod connected. Today it was several short stops (longest was about an hour) so I don't know when the problem started.

Any more ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks.

I did the battery thing as well as set my iPod to NOT repeat and it fixed the repeating problem. But, I only made one 20 minute trip so i dont know if I will experience the same thing rlc did tomorrow, the next day etc. However, after talking to rlc I think I may have some other type of malfunction.

Let me know if this is normal Tom; it's a question about the scrolling capabilities of the Silverline. When scrolling through Playlist or Artist is it supposed to automatically start playing the songs from that artist / playlist you land on immediately and override the song that is currently playing? I found this annoying when trying to scroll for a specific artist, not sure if this is normal. For instance if "x-x-x" is playing and I scroll to "artist y" it automatically starts playing the songs from that artist and the same for playlist. Is it supposed to wait until I go back to CDC 1 to choose track within the artist?

Thanks

That is what mine does also. If I am in a playlist and decide to choose another one, as soon as I start scrolling the first track in each playlist I move through starts immediately. There does not seem to be a browse, then select. It is more of automatic selection of each list as you browse - kind of annoying.

So today after I went to school, parked, got out of school, started car, I noticed that the songs were repeating again. Looks like the unit overrode my iPod settings for NOT repeating songs. Any suggestions Tom? Looks like RLC and I both did the battery option and it fixed it for a day then it went back to the problem. Also is the browsing supposed to do what we mentioned above? Thanks

Can you both tell me what your DIP switch positions on the DICE module are? They should all be in the UP position.

I know for a fact one of mine is up one is down, not sure which one though. I followed what it said on the manual for the Z4? It said one up one down, would both up fix our problems of song repeating and overriding when browsing? Thanks
